Product Description Two young convent girls become friends and decide to spend the summer together. However, their innocent bicycle rides and walks in the country soon develop a much more sinister side. Influenced by their reading of forbidden books, they decide to explore the world of perversion and cruelty. They find a victim and use their innocent exterior to seduce and destroy him. Once they have stepped over the line, they find it impossible to stop. Soon they are contemplating the ultimate evil act. Hugely controversial, the film was banned for blasphemy and has never been released in the US before. It's a film that should be viewed only by those with very open minds. Review "..undoubtedly something of a blasphemous masterpiece" -- Rue Morgue"poetic, beautiful, shocking, and darkly hilarious" --Mondo Digital

Ingmar Bergman meets Stanley Kubric and Federico Fellini
I had to watch this twice and then watch a couple of the "extras" explaining the movie. I liked it but the two other people who watched it did not like it at all. I think it is more of an allegory than a movie. The female characters in this movie are definitely evil. This movie is from 1971 and was banned in many places mainly because it was blasphemous of the Catholic Church. A closed-minded or religious person need not watch this movie. But, if you like odd, foreign films with subtitles and have an open mind, you may like it.

very interesting.....not for the judgmental
This was a bit kinky, but nothing outrageous. It was an interesting film about 2 teen age girls who are best friends and who go to a private Catholic school and get involved in "black arts". They act out many of their fantasies which have the expected results for the audience, although the naive girls seemed to be somewhat surprised at them. The ending is amazing and totally unexpected. This is a film worth seeing, although not for prudes or the overly judgmental.

Much better than Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (These two are REALLY bad!).
This film, as well as the Peter Jackson version was based on an infamous true crime/tabloid sensation from the fifties. This is the superior retelling: Jackson avoided the Leopold and Loeb parallels and wound up with a flight of fancy/fantasy story. And Sera cast his satanic sweethearts beautifully. The actresses are natural and intriguingly sympathetic, even when they disturb, and are indeed sexualized.Like every good/bad girl these two take it five, six, seven steps over the line. If this all sounds overly exploitative, it’s not. Filmed with a painterly touch, the picture’s lush cinematography is startling beautiful — from the pastoral shots in the country, to the lanterns lighting a night-time boat ride, to the unforgettable, horrifying yet glorious final scene at a school recital. I won’t spoil that shocking moment, but I will say that it involves their recitation of Baudelaire’s “Les Morts des Amants” (“Death of the Lovers”) with one hell of a fiery ending. The poetic impact of this scene, indeed the entire movie, is palpable and unforgettable. This film goes for the brass ring. Every taboo explored - in true 70s Eurosleaze/ Artsploitation fashion; indeed, this film meets the criteria for both exploitation and Arthouse. It is a great film: the acting, screenplay, photography and execution perfect. Would love to see this on bluray - and, for that matter, the writer/directors other films as well, great movies by all accounts. Some good extras. Superior subtitles for a Mondo Macabro release. Good picture and sound.

Great restoration with very disappointing packaging
When I fork out $30+ for a Blu-ray, I expect to have a high quality box and a booklet like Arrow, or at least a slip cover or reversible alternate cover like Shout and Kino. Really really disappointed in the absolutely thoughtless aesthetic to the packaging. A blu plastic case, basic disc, and no background artwork. The bare minimum for $30. I’m aware this money helps fund restorations and future releases, but still, this is a cult favorite with its first real blu ray release and they served it up as is in the most basic presentation available. Thank god for all the extras. That helps make up for some of the damage. The film itself is great and the scan from the original negative is excellent. Just feel like if I PAY for a boutique experience I should GET a boutique experience.

A dark classic
Such a great film. Disturbing, a little sexy and transgressive as well. Any fan of underground genre horror should see this at least once.
