No mess at all **Q: What is the temperature range on both the cold and hot sides?** A: The hot is 205°, cold is 38°. My wife makes hot tea all the time. Great machine - we love it! **Q: Does this unit come with a 5 gallon jug?** A: No, the unit does not have a 5 gallon jug. We use Crystal Springs Bottles now, but most should fit. We have used several others that worked well too. **Q: Does this unit have a filter you need to change?** A: not that I am aware of.
