Savoir-Faire Sennelier Soft Pastels Half Stick Set 80/Pkg-Plein Air Landscape

These are Sennelier soft pastels. What else is there to say? Fabulous to use. If you are a beginner and can afford them, go for it. An advanced pastelist would love them, absolutely, if you are looking for a present to give such a person. If someone gifted me with this brand I would be thrilled!

Received this set of gorgeous soft pastels and could not be happier with them. After considerable A/B testing, I selected Sennelier soft pastels for my "base colors", allowing me to enhance my selection with other well-made (and by preference handmade) pastels from costly high-end brands without breaking the bank.These Sennelier soft pastels feel good to use and have an exquisite intensity of pigment that I appreciate as an artist.

I’ve had these pastels for awhile. I am finally writing a review. I did this basket of tomatoes and the pastels are so creamy and easy to use. Would try blending with your finger. Looking forward of using these more in nature walks. They are really messy on your hands so be prepared for that.

I bought this as a gift for a new pastel artist and they were delighted with the range of colors and found the half sticks easier to handle than full sticks. The depth of color is excellent, too.

I am sad to report that I have not loved my Sennelier pastels. I was very excited to get them after taking the plunge to spend the kind of money that I consider a commitment to an art medium. The pastels were all up to expectations as far as their color. The shape and consistency of each stick has been disappointing. Yes, some were soft and easy to lay down, but many were slightly bent and gritty. This has made a large number of sticks difficult to use. I also bought a set of Jack Richeson pastels. What a difference! All the sticks were soft, vivid, and consistently shaped. I have just purchased some Terry Ludwigs. I don't think I would have done so if the Sennelier set had been satisfying. I am now on a Pastel diet!! No purchases for a while.

The vibrancy of colors and butter soft ease of layering them makes these my favorite. The packaging makes them easy to use and transport to and from class or wherever you want to use. Love them! They arrived earlier than expected as well. So happy with this order!

I bought these for my wife who had signed up for a beginner's pastel workshop. The set was recommended by her instructor. It met his requirements and my wife found them to her liking as well. The color pallette was more than adequate and the image that resulted could rival anything Rembrandt produced. Well, that might be a bit of an exaggeration, but she did well for her first attempt. There will be more pastel work and Sennelier pastels in the future for her.
