BLACK+DECKER 18V Cordless Drill Driver, BCD001C1-GB

I’ve used several cordless drills over the years, but this BLACK+DECKER 18V 37Nm model is easily my favorite for day-to-day DIY. It strikes the perfect balance between being lightweight enough for overhead work and powerful enough to tackle serious projects around the house. PERFORMANCE AND POWER: TORQUE CONTROL: The 37Nm of torque is plenty for driving long screws into timber without the drill "stalling." Having 11 different clutch positions is a huge benefit—it means I can sink a screw perfectly flush without accidentally stripping the head. SPEED AND PRECISION: The variable speed trigger is very responsive. It allows you to start a hole slowly (so the bit doesn't skate across the surface) before speeding up to finish the job. LED WORKLIGHT: The built-in light is a small feature that makes a massive difference. It’s positioned perfectly to illuminate the tip of the bit, which is essential when you're working inside kitchen cabinets or under the stairs. BATTERY AND CHARGING: LITHIUM-ION RELIABILITY: The 1.5Ah battery holds its charge incredibly well. I’ve left it in the drawer for weeks at a time, and it’s still ready to go the moment I pull it out. COMPACT CHARGER: The included charger is small and doesn't take up much space on the workbench, and the battery clicks in and out with a very satisfying, secure mechanism. PROS: Excellent power-to-weight ratio. Precise clutch settings for delicate screwdriving. The LED light is genuinely helpful in dark corners. Great value for a complete kit (drill, battery, and charger). CONS: THE CHARGE TIME: The standard charger takes a few hours for a full cycle. If you are doing a massive all-day project, you might eventually want a second battery, but for most DIY jobs, one is more than enough. THE VERDICT: This is quite simply the best drill I’ve used for home maintenance. It’s versatile, dependable, and has enough "grunt" for everything from wood to light metal work. If you want one drill that can do it all without costing a fortune, this is the one to get.

My husband is really pleased with this small drill driver. It is fairly lightweight but does the job easily. He says it is also a reasonable price in comparison to many other larger ones.

I bought this cordless drill in September 2023 and have been using it ever since for various light DIY tasks around the home. It has a nice weight that makes it easy to handle comfortably, and the battery life is good, I can get through most jobs without needing a recharge. The quick charging feature is really convenient, especially when I’m in the middle of a project or you can buy another backup battery which is affordable compared to another brands. One of my favorite features is the small built-in light that shines directly on the drilling spot, making it easier to work in dim or tight spaces. This drill suits almost all light home DIY jobs perfectly. The only downside is its limitation to lighter tasks, you can’t really push it for heavy-duty work. For those tougher jobs, I had to invest in a heavier-duty drill, which is naturally bulkier and heavier, so there’s a trade-off. Overall, I’d definitely recommend this drill for anyone who needs a reliable tool for everyday light DIY projects. See the photo for the drill after these years.

Don't buy anything but this. Nothing beats this driver.

This is a low power cordless drill for woodworking (don't even try it on masonry or steel). It is compact and small, so don't expect too much outside of woodworking. The weight of the battery pack included balances the weight of the unit. The speed, torque can be adjusted and the direction can be reversed as needed. Since the chuck is a 3 jaw keyless one (which again is a tell-tale sign of a low torque low power tool, high powered ones use a keyed chuck), you can insert a bit holder and use it for screws in a pinch. Great utility value, the only limitation being the low power, but it is expected. (Small machine, small battery = low power) Quality wise it is good enough for home DIY (not exactly a Bosch Professional (blue)).

Easy to use, not too heavy either.

I got this drill knowing it wasn't the greatest thing you can buy, however, for what I'm doing with it, a cordless screwdriver is probably more suitable. BLACK+DECKER even offer you a whole new drill which is a better model than this one just for purchasing it under a gift promotion they are running. I had the option of claiming one of the following: 18V 2.0Ah Battery 18V dustbuster Hand Vac 18V Hammer Drill I claimed the hand vac which has a battery life of 12 minutes with the battery that came with the drill, which is very poor so I'll probably get a sacrificial 4.0Ah 3rd party battery for it. Would I have paid £36 for this without knowing I would get a free hoover? No. Do I know a better drill you can get for this much? No, I would have gone with something more expensive on the drill side or just got a cordless screw driver for cheaper. A drill and a hoover for £36 is a bargain.

Amazing product make work easy and fast

Ne ho fatto un uso massiccio durante il montaggio di una casetta in legno, l'utensile si è mostrato performante anche dopo una giornata intera di forature e avvitamenti. La carica della batteria è persistente anche quando l'apparecchio rimane diversi giorni fermo. Anche i tempi di caricamento sono ottimi. Ottima inoltre la luce led che si accende mentre stai utilizzando l'apparecchio, aiuta molto in condizioni di luce non ottimali. La batteria tra l'altro è compatibile anche con altri prodotti B&D quindi intercambiabile facilmente.

Kein Hinweis dass der Stecker von der Ladestation englischen Standard hat, Rücksendekosten müssen selbst übernommen werden. Teurer Spaß, Paket nach England und auch noch als Gefahrgut deklariert. Ohne Worte....
