This device doesn't play back any audio or video on its own. It has to be connected to a device that can play the file such as a computer. It's similar to connecting a computer to a monitor or a projector. That said, if your device cannot play the video or audio content, then you will need to look for the right codex and install it on your device, or locate a device that can play that format. If the file resolution is too big, then it might either not play at all or will play in a smaller format. You can usually adjust this in the settings, but most devices are smart enough to adjust. The audio will play like any other audio. If your refering to HDCP, which is a content encryption system, and this doesn't support HDCP, then the content just won't show up on the screen. This is usually for things like Blu-Ray, DVDs, or media devices.
