Death Stranding PS4 Special Edition (PS4)

Hideo Kojima really outdid himself with his first solo career game after parting ways with Konami in 2015. The actors, graphics, cinematic scenes, gameplay, mysterious story, intrigue, everything rounds up to make a wonderful and unique gaming experience. Watching someone else play it is indeed boring as hell but playing it yourself is an immersive and emotional rollercoaster. Yes, Sam is the go-to delivery guy in the game. Yes, you'll be trekking miles on foot to deliver some of these packages. But you get to experience the scenery and terrain in a way that you wouldn't normally do when using a vehicle, so this makes for a much more interactive and challenging experience. There are moments where you will have to be stealthy and avoid the BTS (those inky black entities) or have to fight them and try to avoid being killed by them. There are also lots of easter eggs and surprising little extras, such as Sam in his room. Anyone who has played this game already knows exactly what I'm referring to, haha! Honestly, if you enjoy a thoughtful slower-paced game with some carefully placed action scenes interjected throughout, then you will likely enjoy this game. But if you prefer to hack and slash, shoot and blow stuff up constantly then this may not be the game for you.

There is nothing to say that hasn't already been said about this game, it is a landmark title of this generation of consoles, Kojima rarely disappoints, having played Kojima titles since MGS1 in 98 I can assure you this is probably if not his greatest game. Having said that it may not be for everyone, this is a slow burn game but that is because it takes appropriate time to get you immersed in the atmosphere and the story, there are plenty of new deep mechanics to delve into and lots of variation, no 2 playthroughs are quite the same. It also runs fantastic on both base PS4 and on Pro the only noticeable difference being resolution effects work and environments are practically identical. Some players may be hesitant to play this if they find the gameplay trailers "boring" and that is fine maybe wait for the next sale for the price to drop by £10 or £15 or pick it up 2nd hand. However, if you are a fan of Kojima or a enthusiast gamer in general this is a MUST PLAY at some point. The only negative I could say is that the special edition with the steelbook is nice, but I don't believe it's worth £20 more as a friend has the Higgs version and the Higgs edition sleeve looks even better than the steelbook graphic and the preorder bonuses come in both standard and special. The special does include a mask in game and the short "making of" and soundtrack however these are surely going to be uploaded to YouTube at some point. Nonetheless a masterpiece by Hideo Kojima.

I'll preface this review by saying I play on a PS4 pro system. This is a hard game to rate. It is very niche game and it definitely won't appeal to most people. The story is convoluted, when my significant other asked me what I was doing, I sounded like a lunatic trying to explain some of the core concept of the game. It takes a long time to unveil itself and it takes itself very seriously. I personally enjoyed the game. Even-though it is a glorified 'Post Apocalyptic Amazon Prime Delivery man' game. Go from point A to point B,C,D,E,F to deliver precious cargo. Sometimes you can have vehicles, often you can't. Sometimes it will be peaceful journey, often you will be attacked by invisible ghost and/or by the local gang. You will have an array of gadgets and gizmos to make your task easier. But you can (and I have) easily ignore 80% of it. Some of the deliveries are long, tough journeys which gives you a sense of accomplishment when you reach the other side. Some deliveries are easy but very satisfying (like the first time I delivered 1 ton of cargo). Some deliveries are just a pain in the [censored] and you will never want to return to that section of the game ever again. In the process of doing all that you will collect materials which will help you build items to help you cross difficult landscape. If you are playing with an internet connection, you can see what others left behind and it makes your journey significantly easier. While you can get 'likes' from other player, which in turn will give you more experience (and give you more stamina, strength, etc...) I din't really go out of my way to give/receive 'likes'. Long story short. I don't know if I can recommend this game to any one type of people. I enjoyed it but was on the fence the whole time. It is a very slow game that encourages you to take your time. But even if you like slow games, the story might drive you away. Maybe wait for a price drop if you are on the fence.

Condition not new awful

A title that is sure to divide opinion, a masterpiece of storytelling from Hideo Kojima the genius behind the Metal Gear series following his departure from Konami, the main game play loop can be a tad tedious but there is something very compelling behind the drudgery of walking miles to deliver packages, brilliant cinematic interludes add depth to the intrique and feature stellar performances by the cast. My one criticism is that the menu's in the game can be a little clunky until you figure them out, it is not always obvious how to do that thing you want to do, not a game breaker however and I am thoroughly enjoying the change of pace from the shoot-em-ups etc. Highly recommended but be prepared for a slow burn during the first 7 hours of game.

I really love this game and I have been wanting the special edition. so, this was a good deal overall and the package came fast, overall great!!!

Veramente un bel gioco! Questa versione include i sottotitoli in Italiano ma non il doppiaggio in italiano, presente invece nella versione Italiana! Prestate quindi attenzione a questo dettaglio!

che dire... chi denigra questo gioco non capisce un c..... Comunque ricevuto con celerità, tutto interissimo, e questa edizione è veramente bellissima per un prezzo così vantaggioso
