Perfect replacement for my burnt out drill/screw driver
I had a Search Craftsman drill for about 12 years. It worked well but didn't have a keyless chuck. This one does! And, man, is that convenient or what! Also the Sears drill finally died after I tried using it with a cement mixer attachment that I got at the Home Depot. It never had any power issues with anything else and was way more powerful than a much more expensive yellow DeWalt cordless drill that I got a chance of using once while putting screws into a cement board before putting down the tile on it. But note that the Sears one was only 3 AMPS and THIS ONE IS 5+ AMPS! Now, I am not going to attempt to mix any cement with it (lesson learned), but while using it for everything else, it seems well made and works really well - just as expected. So I am happy I didn't pay twice as much or more for another brand. This one is perfect! For my purposes (rental property maintenance, etc.) I can't see how a more expensive one would perform any better. And I really don't have any need for a cordless. Everywhere where I work there is an outlet somewhere and I have a long orange extension cable and don't have to worry about charging batteries. I am a big fan of corded drills unless you work somewhere where the A/C power is not there (which has not been the case with me yet). All-in-all quality plus a low price (and even regardless of the price which was $25, btw) 5-stars undoubtedly.

Great Value, Great product
I don't know how this thing doesn't have all 5 stars. I got it fast, and you literally just plug it in and it works. Comes with phillips head/flat head connection and a really nice tote bag. It has enough power to easily screw into wood and old plaster walls with ease. Should've bought this thing 5 years ago. EDIT: So, I've had this for about a year. I easily built a bed frame with it using 3 and 4 inch deck screws. It drilled them in with ease. This is a very powerful drill. I have used it many times and have had no problems.

Adequate tool for use around the house
After over 10 years of cordless, I decided to go electric again. I rarely use the drill outside of the house. When I use it outside the house it will be near the outlets. Otherwise, I have plenty of cords and extensions to go with it. My last B&D failed at the keyless chuck. But I decided to go with it again because it lasted many years at least so it's not bad at all for the price. Without the battery actually the drill is more manoeuvrable because it is lighter and smaller at the handle. You don't worry about losing power and charging the battery. Your workbench won't be clogged up by the charger or one socket is occupied. Without the battery the drill bit being held on the drill is exposed a bit. It can scratch you as shown in the picture. The bag is actually a good idea as I don't need to spend time putting the drill back in it's case and wind the cord. I just dump everything in the bag together with the drill bits. However, the bag is a little small so you have to force the zippers a little bit no matter how you place the drill. Deduct one star for the silliness. [update: actually the bag fits if you put in in one way rather than the other. Still, I know what a very good drill is; my drill before last is pretty good.] The drill itself is like most drills, powerful enough because of the absence of battery, reversible at the push of a slide switch. Variable speed and hence power is controlled by the switch. It's good in the sense that my last cordless has a dial of 10 positions for drilling and driving. I suspect that they don't have variable gears inside anymore. It could be good as my drill before last failed at the gears. But cars need gears even though it can be automatic. For now the VSR switch seems to be sufficient for me, convenient and fairly intuitive too.

Excellent brand name, nicely priced, powerful, keyless chuck, variable speed, reverseable drilling. Recommended.
For many years I loved having a cordless re-chargeable drill. After all, they are convenient to use without needing a power cord. However, if the battery charge is down, or old, it will not work, and many are not as powerful. I am back to corded drills. This one is economically priced ($10 less than Lowe's or Wal-Mart or an equivalent). It's a brand name, ruggid, and powerful.. The only thing I don't care for is the air shooting out left & right sides, but needed, after all, to keep the motor cool and from burning out. This is the best deal I could find. Recommended.

Great Replacement for my Cordless Drill
I only use drill for DIY projects I have at home. I used to have a cordless drill who finally bit the dust, I love my cordless drill but I always have to plan ahead of time when I needed to do something that needed a drill as I have to recharge the battery. This time I decided on a corded drill so that I don't have to wait for battery to charge and re-charge. I got the product yesterday and played with it. It feels solid and more powerful than my old drill. The only thing is that there is no torque control so I have to be careful on the trigger to control the speed to avoid damaging the screw heads. On my old drill, I will adjust the torque and not worry about putting too much power on the drill as it will automatically disengage when the screw has no more place to go. The box comes with the drill, philips/flat head screw and a bag that will fit the drill (in V position). The bag has enough space to carry some drill bits and tools. It also have 3 pouch on the outside. It does not come with any drill bit. I have my old set so, no problem here.

A little clunky but works okay
Not too bad for an inexpensive drill. The design is a little clunky and doesn't seem very ergonomic but it's not horrible. The worst part is the bit storage on the handle. I have a universal bit holder the I use, so I left the one that came with the drill in the holder. I poked my hand a few times before I took the bit off the handle. I was actually a little disappointed in the power of the drill. I previously had a cheapo one from HF that worked much better but I abused it until died. I used it to drive in 4" lag bolts when building my carport. I don't think this B&D would take the same kind of punishment but time will tell. I would recommend this drill for light duty occasional use.

Good for Household Jobs
I don't have much experience with the product as yet, but for a few simple home projects I wanted to complete it has worked great. I am sure that if you spend more money, you may get a more useful and powerful tool. However for little odd jobs around the house, this is just what I needed. The weight is good, not too heavy, plenty of power, easy to use. By the way, I already had a 50 foot power cord, so no issues getting juice to where the job is located.

Black & Decker Meets DeWalt
I received my new B&D DR260B drill today, a day and a half after I ordered it, and almost a week before the suggested delivery date. All good. This is my 2nd drill, as I already have a DeWalt D115. I intended to buy two drills from the beginning. The DeWalt is a no-nonsense general use tool, and the Black & Decker is a, well, a Black & Decker. Yellow and black DeWalt is not to be sneezed at. The DeWalt is half again as heavy, and is bigger except for being less fat. No one apologizes for owning DeWalt. Pickup trucks carry yellow and black to worksites. Orange, or vermilion red, I suppose'the colour of Black & Decker'represents the home handyman, the person who'd rather lift 3.8 pounds than 6.6 pounds, the relative you ask to get something built or fixed or installed for you. There is nothing not-so-good about Black & Decker. It is the trustworthy Chevrolet, whereas DeWalt is the Cadillac. I like to depend on my DeWalt, in all its oh-so-tough overpackaging. It represents my own pride. But I can more easily take my Black & Decker with me on a bus when I cross the city to help a friend with a project, and I can even lend out my Black & Decker for a few days to a GOOD friend. I'd never lend my DeWalt. So there is the cultural difference between these two drills. The Black & Decker comes with a humble black carrying bag which doesn't quite fit, because obviously it was measured for the drill without the drill's power cord. I'm not reviewing the drill's performance, because it is brand new, but ancient Black & Decker drills were relied upon for their longevity. Like a Chevy, y'know? I can tell you I felt very happy to welcome this new tool into my home. I've suggested here that it wouldn't likely match the macho strength of the DeWalt, but it doesn't need to. This is your friendly "jobs around the house" drill that can do the job very well. It has a nice centre-balanced grip, so it doesn't want to fall away from your hand. It has a nice keyless chuck. It has a very easy and obvious forward and reverse switch. It comes with a double-ended screwdriver bit snapped onto the handle, but DO buy a bunch more bits at the same time you purchase the drill. I missed out on a good little add-on deal by overlooking that. What about that keyless chuck? Well, if you are a beginner or out of date, it is the black front of this drill that lets you trade drill bits or screwdriver bits in and out without the nuisance of tightening them with a separate tool. This way is nicer, and faster. What about the cord? Well, this tool is about getting the job done and being handy and being ready to deliver even years after not being used. This is not a gimmicky trend-tool that sucks you in to batterie$ and their relative lifetime$ and their $tay-charged times. With all due respect to batteries, a corded drill like this one tells the world you are either old-fashioned or you have a higher IQ or you are graceful enough that you have never yet hanged yourself in a power cable. I'd WAY rather a corded drill for around-the-house jobs like this one is going to be doing. My background: I'm 69, and I bought my first electric tool'a power drill'in 1972. I was a freelance sometimes professional handyman who built some big stuff, but it wasn't my trade as such. This is an unsolicited review and I get zero kickbacks except it was fun sharing with you. Thanks for reading.

Great Drill
This drill is a straight balance between perfection and efficiency. It is not cheap as B&D is a respectable company in hardware tools & accessories. The material used is quality and so is the work of this drill. This is a real power tool and not a knock-off plastic unsafe toy. I highly recommend to anybody out there who is buying their first drill or are on a budget and want something quality. Do note that there are no bits with this item or no latch-on drills available. You will have to buy those separately.

Perfectly satisfied
After receiving the Model DR260B, I set to work on my first project using screws instead of nails. I was very happy with the results. The tool feels sturdy and has lots of torque in both directions. I didn't find the need for an extension cord to be much of a hindrance and I'm glad I didn't get involved with battery charging, etc. It took me a while to get competent with the chuck locking technique but now I can quickly change bits with the best of them. We used the Robertson screw heads here in Canada and I had to buy separate Robertson bits. The combination Phillips/slot head bit that comes with the tool is okay, but... I clicked that "I liked it" - "loving it" is a little strong but I'm really happy that I went this way.

Rotational Motion
This baby has no problem in the torque department, so make sure you hold on tight. There are rechargeable drills and work for only a while... until you have to buy a new battery for twice the cost of the drill. 120 volts is definitely the way to go. Thanks Black and Decker for an excellent drill!
