Basil Tour XL Double Bicycle Bag (Black/Black)

I purchased these bags based on other good reviews especially a guy from Seattle since I also live in the region. Wow...Plenty of room and easy to install. I did use a zip tie to connect the lower part of the bag to my rack as another reviewer suggested. These bags fit well ,keep their form even when empty, and are perfect for my commutes and shopping. They appear durable and should survive any crashes I'm hoping not to have. I do like the flaps that cover the entire opening...good for wetter days. The price was right...Couldn't be happier based on my needs and the cost.

I commute roughly six miles each way, four days a week. Once or twice a week, I'll take the long way home - roughly 25 miles. Though I try to avoid riding in heavy rain, I do get soaked from time to time. With that background, here's what you need to know about the Basil Tour XL Double Bicycle Bags:1. I sprayed 'em with ScotchGuard when I bought 'em. In my experience, they're completely waterproof.2. They're sturdy. I have about 400 miles on them so far, and they look like they just came out of the box.3. They're voluminous. I put a satchel with books+computer, a cable+lock, and a coat in one side. I put a complete change of clothes and work-appropriate shoes in the other.4. The bags do not detach easily, so I keep them on almost all the time. I put my change of clothes in a Trader Joe's bag I simply drop into one of the panniers.I'm happy with these bags. If they ever wear out, I'll probably replace them with an identical set.UPDATE: 200 miles later, the bags are in the process of losing their shape and one of the bottom seams has given. I'll try to sew it up using sailing thread. If that doesn't work, I'll consider buying another set.UPDATE 2: Countless miles and one New England winter later, I'm happy to report that sewing up the busted seam with sailing thread did the trick. The bags are now a bit faded, their shape has gone a little mushy, and they certainly look worn. In other words, they're finally cool. Structurally, they're still sound, they're still waterproof, and they still do the trick. I imagine they'll last me for a few more years.

I bought these recently as part of my project to covert my 2009 Trek 7200 to an electric bike. The kit I installed included a rear rack to hold the battery which powers a rear hub motor. I wanted panniers to give me some cargo capacity and to cover the battery.These are extremely well made and well thought out. They are still where they need to be and can be stiffened further with the included stiffeners (which I haven't found necessary to use). They are large enough to hold a pretty good bag of groceries in each one, or to put my jacket, helmet, gloves and tools in one bag. They fold up a bit to make them more slender when not filled if you leave out the optional stiffeners.For my electric bike, I wasn't sure if they would be wide enough to cover the 48V battery rack, but they fit perfectly.I was also concerned about my size 12 shoes hitting as I pedaled but on my bike with the battery rack, my feet have plenty of room.Highly recommended!

Bought two sets of these for wifes and my bikes. They are made better than I had expected, especially for this price. A breeze to install on racks we already had. The design provides generous room for pedal clearance. Only time and use will tell of durability, but with the heavy duty materials used for construction, we're very confident. Full marks for this item.

These bags hold a TON of stuff, they're relatively lightweight, and easy to install. I like that they are waterproof too (I already got stuck in a rainstorm, and my stuff stayed pretty darn dry). They can put some strain on your rack though, so just be aware of that - if you plan on carrying lots of stuff, make sure you check whatever screw is holding your rack on regularly to make sure it's not coming loose.Other than that, I love them!!

Not too big...not too small. I love the fact that they retain their shape...making it easy to load and unload them. Dead easy to install...5 minutes on my bike, but I already had a rear rack.

I love these bags! They are exactly the size I was looking for; they fit library books and bags from errands around town well and are not in the way when I am riding. They seem well-made and durable and I expect them to last for many years.

For the price...an okay purchaseThis inexpensive pannier set is simple. One outside zip pocket will barely hold a CCD, otherwise, each bag is one big water resistant case.Mounting problem: Either heels hit the bag (forward) or back edges enter the spokes (recessed) and get eaten up. I ride a touring bike with a Blackburn rack w/ a men's 8 1/2 shoe.The bags cannot be used separately, and there was some trouble securing the bags. Others have had no problems in this area.

Goeie fiets tas en komt niet tijdens het fietsen met je trappers er tegen aan. Super goed. Maar je kan niet echt veel mee nemen in de tas.

Die Fahrradgepäcktasche hat jetzt ihren ersten Urlaub gut überstanden. Die Qualität ist ausreichend gut und ausreichend stabil. Die Breite ist optimal für Gepäck und Einkäufe. Etwas nachteilig ist, das man sie nicht einfach abbauen und mitnehmen kann, aber das war aus der Beschreibung klar; ich denke, Diebe haben auch keine Lust sie abzumontieren. Sie ist nicht komplett wasserdicht, aber kleine Schauer hält sie ab. Nach 4h im Dauerregen war sie total durchgeweicht, aber auch das war in der Beschreibung ersichtlich. Bisher konnte ich keine Farbänderung durch UV beobachten, aber dafür hat sie auch noch nicht so viele km hinter sich. Ich habe nicht wirklich viele Vergleiche, würde sie aber wieder kaufen.
