Pyrex with a capital P is now a French company, and it is borosilicate. There's also the American company pyrex with a small p, and it uses tempered glass, not borosilicate. Both are durable, but borosilicate is stronger, and pyrex with a small p says to not use their glass in a toaster oven. pyrex with a small p has also shattered on occasion in the microwave, though I've never had a problem, and I also put pyrex in the toaster oven with no problem - only later finding out I'm not supposed to do that!

Has anyone had these for a while without the seals on the lids going bad?

I have a few that I bought separately before I bought the set. I have had them almost 5 years now and they are still good. Probably some of the first ones made by them.

Are they stovetop safe on a gas burner?

No, they ware not meant for that purpose
