Initial impression is that the pendulum eats batteries; at least 1 AA/month, I suspect.There are separate batteries for the clock, pendulum and chimes.------ Update 2/4/2013 --------I'm not sure what happened with the first battery, but the 2nd one has lasted about 3 months so far and is doing fine.
