This conical tree that slowly broadens and spreads with age is the national tree of China and a living fossil dating back 270 million years! The foliage, which is light-green, fan shaped and often split in the centre turns bright, clear yellow in the autumn. A hardy tree, Ginkgo is surprisingly a conifer tree although often considered an ornamental tree.

I did not expect the plant to come from Portugal! We are told not to import plants.
I love the tree it is turning yellow so I must keep it watered.

A Happy Ending
The first plant got damaged on its journey not the suppliers fault. But they very kindly sent me two plants as a replacement and they are lovely.. I am very pleased with them and look forward to seeing them from in my garden. Thanks again for sending me new plants.

The only comment I would make was that it was very tightly packed at vulnerable point apart from that it is lovely plant which is better than expected
