Review: Works perfectly - I ordered this charger to replace an original desertcart short cord with charger which would no longer stay tight in the usb connection on my Kindle 8 HD. The cord I replaced had become very loose and I had to run it up through the camera lens opening on my protective case and only pull through enough of the cord to ensure that I could plug it in. Because it was a short cord, when I was charging at night while reading, the wall plug got hot enough to almost burn me, even when I plugged it directly into the wall, but I usually had to plug it in to either a surge protector or an extension cord that was in turn plugged into the surge protector. This charger arrived on time, and was exactly as described. I plugged it into my surge protector at my bedside, and because the cord is 6.5 feet, I don't need an extension cord, which takes away the risk of setting my bed on fire, although the plug in doesn't get hot. It charges my Kindle faster than the original cord and charger plug that came with my Kindle. At the time I got disgusted with the cord I was using and ordered this one, it was taking about 6 hours to completely charge my device. With this charger, I am getting charges during the day while I'm using the Kindle much faster. When I started writing this review, I was at 36%. In the few minutes it has taken me to write this, I am up to 43%. I can get a full charge from less than 20% to 100% in a few hours. One thing that is different from the chargers provided by desertcart when you purchase a Kindle is that the adapter and charging cord are one piece, which means that if you want to charge your device with a car charger or if you need to transfer data via USB, you will have to purchase a separate micro USB cord. I am extremely happy with this charger. It is the best I've ever had and charges faster than anything I've tried.

I also like the shape of the plug, my previous one was a large square unit, it took up two plug outlets if I plugged it into the top plug. I ordered this charger to replace an original Amazon short cord with charger which would no longer stay tight in the usb connection on my Kindle 8 HD. Real happy with this purchase, thanks to all the reviews here. My old charger plug had some more wear and tear, the wire covering started peeling off, so it was time for a new one. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best charger EVER

I thought my kindle was dying on me, took forever to charge up. Purchased this charger as an extra, plugged kindle into it while I was reading, it charged to 100 per cent while in use! Let kindle run down to 5 percent, in less than an hour fully charged. Will be buying more of these. Note: Adding to my original rating..... Will still give these chargers 5s. I had to replace one, only because 2 year old pulled a kindle off it as gently (not) as a toddler will. I use these to charge 4 different kindles. Gen 3, 2 Gen 7s (all 7" hd), 8" hd and a kindle reader. The chargers work with all of them, all charge relatively quickly. My oldest, the Generation 3, will charge from dead to 100% within an hour; if it's got at least 5% will charge fully within an hour while I am using it. Chargers range from several months old to several weeks. Will see how long they hold up. Great multi use charger for me.
