B&P Lamp 5 1/2 Inch Double Ended Halogen Socket with Bracket

My light fixture is a tall adjustable tripod pole light that has two 500 quartz lights mounted on top. It is about 5+ years old. Normally when a 500 watt quartz bulb burns out it is an easy replacement, but recently when a bulb went bad the end of the bulb got extremely hot and melted and cracked a porcelain end of the bulb holder.I first looked on line to see if anyone was selling an LED bulb that would snap into a new holder, and still provide the same level of light as the 500 quartz. My research showed these are not available, and the only LED size that would "snap into" this size of holder would only produce light that would be equivalent to a 100 watt quartz - and I really needed the 500 watt brightness. So, I decided I would have to stay with using a 500 watt quartz and not convert to LEDI was surprised and happy to find a replacement bulb holder on Amazon that looked identical to mine.I installed it today and the light works great. Here are some helpful tipsWhile most of these of these 500 quartz lights are probably similar, there may be small difference in the bulb holder - some reviews say their screw holes did not line up, but mine lined up perfectly. The screw holes are oval allowing for a small amount of side to side aligning adjustment. You do of course have to remove the front glass area, and with mine I had to remove a small "aluminum foil" reflector. Mine also had two small circular clips to hold the wires in place in the front to keep the wires away from the hot bulb - if yours does, but sure to tuck the new wires under those to keep them away from the hot bulb.I had to remove a back cover plate - and the on / off button - to get to my wires. I would highly encourage you to connect the new wires at the same back area as the original wiring set up, and do not cut the wires and try to splice them in the front area.The wires on the new holder were identical in length to the wires on the holder I had to remove. The old one had one black and one white wire, while the new one had two whites. I don't think it matters which of the two white wires you connect to which black or white feed line.My old holder's wires had some sort of special "factory clear plastic crimp" holding the wires together. Knowing that I did not have any extra length on the new wires, I was able to partially tear apart the plastic crimp and pull out the old wires, so that I had full length to work with without cutting any off. I did not have any "wire nuts" that were small enough for the new splices, but I did have some small red tubular crimps, size 22/18, that were the perfect size. I also have a special ratcheting crimper tool to use with these. If you don't have these small crimps, I would highly suggest finding some type of very small wire nuts - you don't want to trust just twisting and using electrical tape on these connections.All things considered - good replacement part - just take your time and wire it in correctly.

I was looking to replace the holder in several 500w outdoor halogen floodlights. To my suprise, this holder not only was sturdy and exactly the size as described, it installed easily in all of my outdoor floodlights. Would highly recommend.

The used lamp my wife bought has a 3-position switch: off, on, and full bright. It uses halogen lamps and the new lamp she put in worked fine on full bright, but would blink in and out in the dimmer on setting.I looked at the socked contacts and they were tarnished and pock-marked. I figured it would be difficult to find a replacement for it, but was super impressed that Amazon had them and I had one on order within 5 minutes. I wish it happened like that every time.

Fits exactly in a specific brand pizza oven that are DM famous for their quality and this is the lamp they use for the oven interior

Very easy/quick install, resurrected a halogen torchiere lamp with a shorted socket, has worked fine for a few weeks now.

This item brought back to life an old flood light I bought in the 90’s. Easy replacement.

I needed to replace the nearly identical unit in my wife's tall office halogen lamp and this appeared to be identical...and it was in most respects. Unfortunately the wires which must be spliced to the power cord in the lamp were less than half the length of those on the originalt module. With very careful handling I was able to ultimately use the item but it was very difficult to arrange the lamp re-assembly so as to retain sufficient slack in the wires to avoid kinking them where they exit the ends of the unit. Wish I had measured the length and compared prior to reassembling and writing this review. I was able, however, to measure the wires on the original unit and they were each ~11 inches long, thus, those on the new one were 5.5 to 6.0 inches at "most". Be sure to measure your original unit wire length prior to ordering. Although it would be possible to splice and couple some of the old wire to the new I elected not to do so as the halogens draw a lot of juice and the splices, in my application, would have to be housed in a roughly 1.5" I.D. metal tube and the increased exposure to shorting within the tube was unacceptable to me as a lay person.

It arrived as promised, in good shape and solved my problem wonderfully.
