Kitchen DevilsControl Carving Knife

Very sharp, excellent for joints, poultry and probably a large turkey
Only one other Kitchen Devils knife is owned although others had sometimes been used when not at home. That owned is in almost daily use and is a very sharp serrated bread/slicing knife. The 'Kitchen Devils Control 23cm Carving Knife 603006' is a slightly longer-than-usual carver (9.25-inch equivalent) and super sharp. Kitchen Devils knives usually are sharp although not all use Japanese steel for their blades as this is claimed to do.Although a carving knife of another brand is owned as part of a set, it has never been effective or truly sharp despite many attempts and different methods of sharpening and had not therefore been used for many years. Other knives from the set are still used and sufficiently sharp. Although not ideal, a far heavier chef's knife has recently done double-duty as a carver. This is lighter, the blade far slimmer at the shoulder (blunt back edge) and better able to slice joints, poultry etc on and off the bone. It also works particularly well with cold meats, salamis and other such products. The long tapered tip is a help getting around larger bones and it should be long enough for a turkey. The knife is of a good domestic standard and priced accordingly. The cutting edge is hollow-ground which is ideal for carving and it should retain that edge well. The handle is moulded in a rubberised plastic, providing a reliable grip with low risk of slippage if damp and a large finger guard helps keep the user's hand away from the blade. Although the knife is said to be dish-washer safe, personal choice is for manual washing using a brush to remove dried-on food particles and set with the blade flat against a worktop for safe drying with a cloth. A blade this long may be too long for some knife blocks but a suitably-long blade guard will offer protection to the cutting edge and for those handling it should it be stored in a drawer or on the worktop.

A monster of a knife!
I purchased this knife mainly for carving, and the odd slicing duty, and it is the best knife of its kind I have ever owned. It is seriously sharp, dishwasher friendly, has a solid handle, which is easy to grip, and it can tackle just about anything. Be warned, though - be very, very careful when using it - I have already nicked the edges of my fingers with it, and it cuts through skin very easily! One more thing - a block is a necessity to store it in, otherwise the blade will get damaged because of the knife's size.

Seems Pretty Good
Brought for my wife as a replacement for an identical knife I broke. She really likes the range.

Be careful. Very sharp, as it should be.
Should have bought one of these years ago. The handle is so comfortable to use and carving is effortless.
