Very handy tool, the small, lightweight size and different shapes / profiles make it very versatile!!!
I have found this a versatile tool, and get a lot of use out of it. Granted, the 600 grit does not make this a finishing grit / sharpener for the finest edge on your best knives, but that is not why I bought it.Here are some of the ways I use this sharpener:- The thin / low profile of this sharpener make it a great tool for gardening tools with curved edges. My flat sharpeners struggle with the tight confines and curved edges of pruners, shears and other cutting tools. However, this tool is an excellent choice for those tools - between the flat spot on the round edge and the rounded portion, this makes quick work of my garden cutting tools.- Touching up my fishing hooks and lures - I throw this in my tackle box to give my hooks and lures a new point when needed. The groove in the rounded side makes quick work of hooks and lures.- For hiking / backpacking - this tool is lightweight and low profile, and is a good choice hiking, camping and even backpacking for a lightweight tool when you need something to touch up a knife edge, smooth off the corner of a dinged tent pole, or anything where a metal burr needs to be knocked down.- For touching up a serrated edge - the pointed end of this was made for re-honing serrated edges, and I use it for my Spyderco serrated edge, or even for the first pass on my serrated kitchen knives. The pointed end also works good in tight spots, like low clearance pruners and cutters where it is tough to get other sharpening tools in a tight spot. This sharpener is small enough to stick in a day pack, clip in your pocket while doing chores or on the go. I would recommend this sharpener to anyone looking for something small and compact that needs a sharpener where others might not do the job, or when you want something that packs nicely. Thanks for reading.

Works well, simple design. Made well.
Best little sharpener. Easy to use and intuitive.

Great sharpener for serrations
This sharpener is great for sharpening serrations. The tapered side fits well with almost any type of serration, and is easy to use. It's a course enough grit to sharpen without taking a very long time, but fine enough to avoid a poor looking edge. I can recommend pretty much any Smith's sharpener, I've had really good luck with every model I've had.

Nice finer grit and good taper...flimsy body
I finally wore out two of the original Smith's pocket files like this that I bought sometime in the late 80s and early 90s I think. I suppose those were made in the US back then but they were for sure made a bit nicer than today's offering made overseas. The working end of this tool is great actually...finer diamond grit than most and it's reasonably durable, good fine taper on that end of it. The aluminum tube body on these new ones is just this side of junk, however, as is the pocket clip. The old ones were simple and sturdy without being overbuilt. I expect the threads on this to get worse with use and they're already pretty shoddy. But I guess it works for the purpose and the rod hasn't slipped yet. Definitely still worth buying - does a great job with serrations and it comes in handy for some cutting tooling like router bits and forstner drill bits where it can be hard to access with a slip stone or file, or touching up inside curves/rings where a needle file might not be as ideal as it should be. This one is appreciably nicer than any of the typical slightly coarser grit import-branded ones I've seen lately.

Great sharpener for multiple types of knives.
This is perfect for sharpening almost anything. I collect knives, spikes & swords. I also used this on my kitchen knives and it worked beautifully. It’s also great for on the go, the retractable part is fantastic for quick sharpening.

Good tool, if a bit aggressive on grit size...
Not a bad little pocket fix-up sharpener. It's a bit aggressive, but for field dressing a pocket knife or hatchet or whatever implement it will do the trick. I'll write back here if I notice any longevity issues with the diamond coat.

Its whatever. Id pay maybe 6 bucks for it.
Its okay. It sharpens but it will take you a while compared to other sharpeners i have.

A good touchup tool for home, field or tackle box.
Great for touchups. Conveniently compact. Fits into tight spaces for shears and scissors. Groove for fish hooks. Very handy, affordable, multi purpose, light duty sharpener.
