Q: How many loads of laundry is one bar good for do you think?

I usually get 4-5 months from my batch of detergent.

Q: is it safe to use on silk?

I personally don’t think it works on anything tbh. I tried it on a few different tops and button downs… didn’t do anything

Sorry, I shred my bar up and add to my homemade powder detergent. It works great on missed stains, but I have never directly applied to a stain for removal.

Q: Has anyone tried using this in place of fels-naptha laundry bar to make laundry detergent?

Yes, I have although I got mixed results. My recipe used this soap, washing soda and baking soda. If you're doing the classic recipe which uses borax and baking soda then you may get better results but we don't use borax. The soap does grate really well. We use it now only for spot treating and it works really well for that!
