My daughter is two and I don't bother to wipe down the paint set after she uses it, but you definitely could if you wanted to. The plastic lid easily snaps closed, but secure enough that she can't open it herself. Review: Perfect - I found some old watercolors and my 4 year old seems to have fallen in love with painting so I needed more paint for her but I wasn't trying to spend an astronomical amount of money. As I said she's 4...pretty neat with the painting but still 4. I needed something worth the money but that wouldn't break the bank because she was going to run through the paint. This is PERFECT. Especially at the price. I bought 5 in one go. Decent amount of paint. 8 basic colors. Even a brush was included. It's only been 3 days and she's done nothing for paint on and off all day and she's still on the first pack. My only regret is that I didn't buy 5 more. Super pigmented paints too.
