Dragonflies - Very Good !
"Dragonflies" by Steve Brooks is a splendid volume for anyone who could probably survive a high school Biology class or perhaps Biology 101 in college. Brooks does a very good job of presenting Dragonflies and Damselflies to the reader with a notably concise but well-planned, comprehensive and accurate style. This book would be a most excellent primer for anyone and, in spite of its' brevity (96 pages with plenty of photos and drawings), will advance the reader's knowledge by a considerable degree... and do it painlessly.

More than an identification key ...
This book covers a good deal about dragonfly behavior, life cycle, etc. Almost all British species, so perhaps not useful in the US, but far more valuable as a far as field work than US species guide.

Was looking for more detailed information and pictures of each type/name of Dragonfly. This book was too general for what I really wanted.

Excellent
Like the other books in this series, Dragonflies is a superb introduction to the natural history of...well, yes, dragonflies! A wide range of topics are covered in detail, such as diversity, anatomy, life cycles, habitats, etc, but none of the text is intimidating, and is written in a thoroughly down-to-earth and approachable way. It's sad that this book is now out-of-print, and often hard to obtain. Hopefully it will be reprinted to allow more people to appreciate the world of dragonflies.
