Tips for Teens on Intelligent Design: Study Guide for Defeating Darwinism

There are quite a few editing mistakes (spelling, grammar, etc.) that should be looked into. Perhaps a 2nd Edition should be released?As far as the content, it does adequately summarize the "Defeating Darwinism" book, and should be considered an excellent study guide to go along with it.If, however, your child is in a class that is trying to get them to outline the book without the aid of a study guide, my recommendation is for the parent to get this book, and work through it, but not let their child see it, unless their child is just completely stumped as to what to do. It could be that the study guide helps them for the first few chapters, and then they take it from there on their own?Anyway, I recommend this to anyone trying to wrap their brain around the "Defeating Darwinism" book if they are having trouble grasping what Johnson is trying to say.

"Defeating Darwinism" is really geared towards high school juniors/seniors, in my opinion, but I like that it's being introduced in the middle school years through our home school community, Classical Conversations. This "Tips" book gives me (the home schooling parent) some structure and suggestions in how to read this book with my 8th graders, how to introduce the vocabulary, and provides discussion questions, which assures me that my kids understand what they have just read. It also generates some wonderful questions from them, which is conducive to great conversations.

A must for challenge b of classical conversations!!

A great "inside scoop" for parents working through Defeating Darwinism with their students. I recommend this book for any parent that has a student in Challenge B, Classical Conversations as an excellent tool for working through the difficult text together. Very much appreciated having a study guide available for the book. Offered 'cliff-note' like feel, pulled great vocabulary/phrases/concepts to own, and allowed more pointed, yet thought provoking discussion.

Helps with understanding the book.

This very useful book was one of my first purchases last year as a first time Challenge B director for Classical Conversations, where Phillip Johnson's Defeating Darwinism is an integral part of the research curriculum. It was invaluable to me as I studied and learned alongside my class and I urged each parent to purchase it, too. It will continue to be a big part of my lesson planning. Highly recommended.

I highly recommend this helpful book to any parent or tutor who is leading their child or class through Phillip Johnson's book. Ms Hinkle offers insights on relevant occurences since Johnson's book was published decades ago. She summarizes key points, vocabulary, and gives helpful discussion starters. I read the book myself in the nineties and have been leading discussions on it with eighth graders for six years, but I still refer to Ms. Hinkle's chapters each week as I prepare for class.
