BLACK+DECKER Corded Drill, 5.5-Amp, 3/8-Inch (DR260C)

Made very well and sturdy, after many hours of use it holds up well. It did arrive with the chuck opened all the way and it was a bit over tightened, I had to really use force to get it to start closing. I noticed other customers complaining about how they couldn't get it to tightened cause it was stuck when it arrived. Mine did the same, I just used my big muscles, lol but really speaking seriously it needs to not be so over tightened when its first put together and at least have product inspected before shipping to customers. I was so sick and tired of recharging batteries every time I'm half way in a project I decided to go old school and so purchased this basic drill. Well it's kinda out performed my other drills that use batteries that are twice as expensive as this drill. It has the keyless chuck, which is a must for really any drill. The drill operates at a much cooler temperature than my other bigger ones which helps when holding it for a prolong period of time. It has 5.2 Amp of power, which is plenty for most jobs around the house and the convenient constant power button that allows the drill to keep drilling without needing to press the button down. The handle is comfortable and the lightweight really helps when screwing things up high above your shoulders. Great product, feels good in the hand, very smooth operation, yes its noisy but its powerful and easy to use

it's ok but should of gotten the 6 amp

My wife and I needed to hang a few more weighty items on the walls of our apartment. We don't own very many tools and where apprehensive about purchasing a drill in lieu of borrowing one. For the price we felt we could justify the purchase, even if we only used it occasionally. I was expecting a drill of lower quality, much like you would find for sub $10 at a place like Harbor Freight. We where surprised at how sturdy it was built and how well it functioned. *************** *** PROS *** *************** - Made with quality materials. The parts that come into contact with your hand are made of a softer plastic, much like that found on a ballpoint pen with a grip, but of higher quality. I honestly believe I could use the butt end as a hammer given how strong the plastic is, but I of course don't recommend this. - Very ergonomic, with reasonable reach to the Forward/reverse slider and Lock-on button, all with one handed use. - The chuck is easily adjusted and prevents over-tightening to the bit. - Comes with a Phillips/Flathead bit that will fit most common screws. There is a place to store the provided bit at the bottom of the handle - Very granular control of the variable speed switch, without this feature I would not have purchased this drill. Sometimes you need to start out slow when drilling in a screw, otherwise you may set a screw sideways, etc. - The Lock-on button allows you to set the drill to a specific speed without pressing the switch. This feature is especially useful for situations such as buffing out scratches on a car or using a small sanding attachment. - Anti fray housing where the cord meets the drill, there is nothing worse than having to ditch a drill or repair it yourself because of a now exposed and dangerous power cable - 2 Year Warranty with a 30 day money-back guarantee - Minimal packaging - Comes in a single box with the drill and a small and concise multi-lingual manual, no oversized box or messy cardboard padding. *************** *** CONS *** *************** - Like most drills, this has an open grill/air vent that cools the electric motor. I don't feel comfortable using this outside during inclement weather given that I can see the components inside. For normal use, this should not even be a concern. - The drill bit stored in the holder at the bottom of the handle can poke your hand if held a certain way. If this is an issue, you can move the Flathead over to the left a bit and bear the less sharp Phillips tip, or you can remove the bit entirely.(just don't loose it) - The drill is a bit heavy for one handed use and does not benefit from the weight of a battery pack to displace how top-heavy it is. This drill saved my bacon....and my wrists! I had to do a very large demo project that involved, among other things, unscrewing several hundred screws. One thing that they don't seem to mention in the specs (not sure why) is that this does indeed "reverse" with a sliding directional button on the grip part. The included screwdriver bit was perfect since I needed both flathead and phillips. The keyless chuck system worked flawlessly (first drill I've ever owned that had this). On top of that, the variable-speed motor was perfect and helped power through that entire job. Last but not least, since this is corded - which is why I bought it - you'll never have to wait for battery packs to recharge while you're in te middle of a huge project. you can just get your work done. Bottom line: I highly recommend this B&D drill. If you're on the fence, just buy it. You will be happy that you did. Especially at this price.

This drill is so much more powerful than my battery powered Black and Decker drill of the same size. I don't miss the cordless component at all - worth the "hassle" if having to plug in
