A few years ago I used to have the GIK corner traps. I couldn't tell any difference in the sound of my system with those in place. They were around 15lbs each and cost the same as these. I gave them away. As I learn more about sound and taking RT60 measurements, I thought I would try corner bass traps again. These weigh more than double what the GIK traps weighed. As soon as I put them in the corners, I could tell a big difference in how the midbass region really tightened up. There was a big drop in reverb times in the entire frequency range, but especially 100-200hz. I am going to need to add a bunch more 4inch thick panels to address the rest of the midrange. I wish I had heard of ATS Acoustics earlier. Review: Works as hoped when purchased - Unit arrived in the timeframe that was specified during checkout. Packaged very well for a large and odd shaped item. The item contained two packages: the assembled corner trap and separately the mounting hardware if needed. The color and construction of the corner bass trap matched the build quality and robustness of the 24x48x2 wall panel from a previous purchase. In terms of effectiveness the product took care of a bloom in the bass region that would not allow much volume during playback due to the extra loudness I was getting in the bloom bass region. Due to the broadband absorption qualities of this product my overall quality of sound has improved at any position in the room. I do not believe this product will block sound from outside sources, that is not a fact just a guess as I was not judging the product on those merits. I like ATS and the products that I have purchased from them thus far and will look to them first if a solution is needed for similar issues in the future. The panel are dirty and contaminated (see the pictures) . Acoustic panels are like furnature that are displayed visibly in the room, the aethetics is just as important as sound aborption.
