No birds allowed
We placed this on our dryer vent to prevent birds from nesting. It’s well worth the money. It’s thick and functional. Very sturdy and easy to install.

Exact as expected all parts included
All parts were included, it's plenty big & will fit over the vent nicely, which was an initial concern. Best of all I expect this winter when it's freezing cold, it'll keep mice from crawling into the heated warm hole on the outside of my house Thank God!!! Thank You (:

Durable
I've had both these and big box non-caged vents installed for years in same conditions. These hold up very well whereas the others fail.

Easy replacement for old vent
Works well but has to be periodically checked to clear away lint from the outer guard.

Good Vent but Comes with No Hardware and No Instructions
This is my second Deflect-O dryer vent in 23 years. The first thing I must state is that this brand/model obviously is durable, since the original vent I owned lasted 23 years. So, I’ll give kudos to the manufacturer on durability. That being said, the new unit is nearly identical to the original with three set-backs. As already noted in previous reviews, no screws are provided. Neither the product description online nor the packing indicates that the hardware is not included. It is very disheartening to get into a project only to discover the buyer must supply parts, batteries, or other components without having been alerted to this by the manufacturer. Well, I had already removed the old vent and upon unpacking the new vent discovered 1), no screws and 2) no directions. I have zero idea why a manufacturer would not supply either a paper copy or a link to removal and installation directions, as the majority of customers do not have HVAC knowledge or experience. The lack of providing screws, as well as some basic instructions, are both, cost-savings benefits to the manufacturer, but a huge inconvenience to their customers. Through my own online research, I learned that the screws need to be #8, 2” hex head screws. By the way, having had to stop my project to run to Home Depot for the screws, and having no luck locating the right type with wider groves, a Home Depot associate showed me screws specific to installing a register vent, actually called “Register Vent Screws” just for this purpose. These screws have wider groves and are zinc-coated for anti-corrosion, and come in either white or beige. Folks, like they say for all projects (and this one is no different), it is all about having the right materials, tools and knowledge that leads to a successful outcome. And to the manufacturer, I would have gladly paid an extra $1.97 (the cost of the Home Depot screws) if you had simply included them and upped your price accordingly. This would have saved me an hour running to Home Depot! Finally, the biggest downer of this new product, is the re-design of the collar that attaches the vent to the metal duct pipe. My older model had a two-stage collar with a narrower inner collar that fit inside the duct pipe, and an outer collar that ensured the vent was seated all the way. The duct pipe was then screwed to the inner collar ensuring it was secure. This new model vent does not have the two-stage pipe, so I was scratching my head trying to figure out how I would secure the outer collar to the duct pipe without being able to see what I was doing. I finally gave up and further surmised the manufacturer decided to eliminate the inner collar design for something cheaper (for them)…. you simply just push the collar over the duct pipe and let it be. Again, this was another cost-save benefit for the manufacture. AND… if they had supplied instructions in the first place…. they could have indicated there is no need to fasten the collar to the duct pipe. Well, this was a long review, the longest I have ever posted in Amazon or any site. But I wanted to share not only my frustrations, but what I learned so others won’t spin their wheels like I did. And while you’re waiting for your new vent to arrive…you’ll have time to stop at your hardware store for the register vent screws. How did my installation go? The newly installed vent looks as good as the original and I am happy with MY efforts to get the job done right.
