Works great, did not cut the hose. Useless if your hose is not in the open or in a bend.

The gates heat shrink style clamp is the worst way to attach a hose. As a Technician it has been my worst enemy causing lots of money in damage. Bought this tool in hopes it would make it easy to remove but instead found it to not work as advertised. A better option is to just heat up a chisel and slice through it hoping you don't ruin your hose or a knife. Had high hopes for this tool and bragged to my coworkers about this but finally getting to use it for the first time made me wish I could take back what I said. Not only that I have to end up putting a hose clamp on it in order to get it back on the road.

I read the reviews before I purchased and read how they break. But I thought they must have been rough with the tool. I'm a master tech and started using the heat shrink clamps and thought the tool must work. WRONG IT BROKE THE FIRST TIME USING IT. you can use a Soldering tool or heat one spot just a bit then slide a small flat head screw driver then cut with a razor blade.

I haven't had a chance to use it, but the construction is good. I'm sure when the opportunity comes it will perform well

The PowerGrip hose clamps work better than any other type of hose clamp I have used.This tool sucks. The blade broke the first time I used it. Even though the part number for the replacement blades are on the back of the package, I can't find it anywhere. Called Gates direct, they could not pull up the replacement part. Eventually figured out the replacement blades are not longer available and they recommend replacing the entire tool.
