Solid performer at a reasonable price
This sprayer is definitely a big step up from the ten dollar model that I purchased at the local home improvement store. The wand, connective parts, and trigger mechanism are all solid brass as opposed to the flimsy and leaking plastic pieces of the el cheapo model. The pressure release valve is a welcome addition, one not present on the most basic sprayers. The pump mechanism actuates and pressurizes the tank contents very quickly and efficiently. Still there are several issues with this sprayer that prevent me from giving it 5 stars. Firstly, the rubber connecting hose feels squishy, weak and cheap. An industrial grade hose with a spiral spring wound reinforcement would be much more durable and appropriate here. Secondly, the volume/calibration scale on the tank exterior is nearly impossible to see, the marks are slightly raised, but invisible. I took a black sharpie, and traced over the lines and numbers in order to assist in filling the sprayer—the scale should be raised, as well as overprinted in black ink to make the process of mixing and filling easier. Thirdly, the pump plunger handle appears to be simple uncoated steel, and according to many comments that I have read, appears to be prone to rust and deterioration. Replacing the shaft with either stainless steel, brass, or the cheapest alternative, a resin coated steel, would probably greatly extend the service life of this sprayer. And finally, the nozzles. My sprayer came with one that allowed for a narrow, highly concentrated stream (great if your shooting at weeds 30 feet away) but when an attempt was made to adjust it to a wider cone pattern, it just leaked all over the place. I then ordered a separate fan nozzle, that sprays a fixed 2 foot wide pattern that is great for spraying large sections of weeds, and I then also purchased an adjustable nozzle that sprayed a true cone shaped pattern without leaking. It seems to me that a small nozzle kit, with a varied selection of fixed size spray patterns should be available. (like vacuum cleaner attachments) Plastic would probably be adequate for the housings, as long as the actual nozzle openings were ceramic. This would keep the price way down compared to solid brass, and would be more than adequate for most applications. I think that all of my suggestions could be incorporated into this sprayer without significantly raising the manufacturing costs, so Chapin, take note!

Buy this instead of the cheap pump sprayers. It's worth your sanity.
After struggling with cheap pump sprayers for years I finally splurged on this to spray Cy-Kick for the scorpions at my new house. This is worth it. Everything about it is vastly superior to the $10 plastic sprayers you get at a home improvement store. The pump is made of metal and each pump puts a lot more air in the tank and also doesn't feel like it's going to snap off at any given moment. The pressure relief valve is a dream to operate also. Then there's the sprayer itself. It's made of brass, it feels good, is not fatiguing to use and it looks like it can come apart to be rebuilt. The spray nozzle at the end has a great adjustment range and it just flows a lot more liquid in a nice fan spray.Between the larger air space in the two gallon model I bought and the greater volume of air put in to the tank with every pump, I can lay down a layer of bug spray in a matter of minutes one I get going with this thing.Overall this is one of those things once you buy the nice one there's no going back. I've also started spraying two of my families houses so I've become the regular family bug man I guess, but you can easily diy that for much less money than hiring a pro.

Longest spray ability in non-commercial market
Sprays farther than other similar bottles. Wish it came with the longer arm.

Durability and customer service led me back to Chapin
This replaced a much older Chapin Premier that I was unable to get replacement parts for. Chapin customer service was excellent and sent me out what they thought may work for my older unit at no cost to me. Unfortunately, the replacement part didn't work and Chapin's customer service didn't have access to the part required. After all these years I didn't want to have to buy a replacement but understood that product designs do change. I also could have attempted to repair my product but with the amount of spraying I do I didn't want to risk a break down in the midst of a project. The fact that I was able to speak with an actual person both times I called the customer service line and the excellent service they attempted to provide is what persuaded me to repurchase another Chapin product.**Update**I see other reviews complaining about the shape of the included nozzle. The included nozzle wasn’t ideal for my usage and so I purchased a more appropriate option. I do like the fact that both nozzles seem to be solidly made and fashioned out of brass. As long as you are aware of the need to possibly tailor this sprayer to your particular needs, have no worries as it is durable and continues to hold up after repeated uses.

Poor availability of repair parts
Chapin factory was unable to provide part numbers and ordering information for:1) Internal white plastic suction tube with integrated filter2) Adapter that interfaces internal suction tube to external hose

Not sure if any better than much less expensive alternatives
First impression only but not sure if worth extra cost of over 3 times that of the bargain sprayers. The brass wand is nice and it seems well made except for the gallon/liter marks on the side which are all but invisible. I used a permanent marker to draw over the lines in order to make them usable.

Not the best unit for precision treatments
Decent unit other than the dripping at the nozzle tip after the flow trigger has been released. I use it for interior pesticide spray and would recommend a different nozzle and gasket. The cardboard like material saturates quickly and causes another drip point.
