Light is shined up through the sample and into the eyepiece, allowing you to see the cells/organisms in the sample. These microscopes are more like magnifying glasses on steroids, and use reflected light to illuminate the top of whatever you're viewing. If you want to examine gems, coins, circuit boards, insects, etc., go with a stereo microscope. The USB digital camera is optional and is placed in place of one of the standard eyepieces. This allows you to use the microscope simultaneously for image capture and as an optical monocular microscope, though the focal distance you need may not be the same as what the image capturing unit requires. Keep in mind that the USB camera is very low resolution. J'avais besoin d'une bonne résolution optique, et une vision élargie, je les ai trouvées avec ce produit. La caméra annexée n'est peut-être pas le top mais fait bien son travail. Je n'ai trouvé aucun défaut sinon l'adaptation de la camera a la résolution X2500, qui ne convient pas. Merci.
