Great for aspiring 2 year old artists!
My two-year-old daughter loves this! The pictures of exciting and diverse enough to hold her attention, and let her have the satisfaction of painting with out excessive mess. I take each picture out individually to paint so that water doesn't soak through to other pages and I use a cookie sheet on our coffee table to prevent water/mess from getting everywhere. The paint brush that came with the book was dinky so we use nicer paint brushes I had around and they work welll. Note that the colors do bleed and can get on hands or clothing if smeared on the painting while wet. So far, all the colors have juse come out in the wash. Very fun, and I consider it a bonus that it's NOT a tv-show or move-based item. Definitely the best value for the price!

Great entertainment!
My 2.5 year old loves to play with this Paint with Water by Melissa and Doug. When it comes to sitting down at a table with paper, her attention span is typically 15 minutes. However, this paint with water captivates her for a solid 30-45 minutes. She loves to pretend play with other Melissa & Doug products for hours, but something about paper turns her off. We have had this product for almost a month and she has painted almost all pages. It has bright, vibrant colors, great scenes, and plenty of paint. This makes a great birthday present for ages 2-6.

Interesting concept
The instructions says "after completing a patterned section, allow it to dry before painting the adjacent area (wetting two adjacent area may cause colors to bleed)". If your child can follow this rule, you will have a beautiful painting with distinct colors at the end of the session. But alas, my 27months daughter cannot follow this rule and we ended up with a smudged painting. However she did had fun brushing water of the picture, and proudly showed her masterpiece to the family. Kept her busy for 30min. I think this will work perfectly for an older child. I was tempted to do a page by myself! Lol.Dries fast, thus the mess is minimal. The given brush was too small for big areas such as the background. We used a normal paintbrush instead and it was softer and works better.

High quality paint with water book
This product did not disappoint. I've purchased several paint with water products but Melissa and Doug's Paint With Water book is superior in quality. The pages are sturdy, designs are cute and the amount of paint to activate on each page is impressive.

Great!
This is great for my 3 year old daughter! We put towels on the table behind it, give her a bowl of water and the brush, and let her go to town. Easy set up and clean up, keeps her entertained for awhile! Paper is great quality and easy to tear out of the book. Colors are nice and bright.

Lots of pages of pictures!
This has been so much fun to do with my granddaughter. Used our own Dollar Tree brushes though. Many more pictures in this book than other pain with water books that I have found.

It is not mess free
When I ordered this product, I assumed it would be mess free. Once the water hits the page, it turns to paint making it a little messy. Otherwise, it is cute and fun for my one year old. I wish it was mess free where I could take this while traveling.
