Sure get enough erasers to last a lifetime
I'm not overly happy, but that's my bad. Because of one of the pictures, showing a container of leads, I mistakenly thought this came with the pencil, extra erasers and extra leads. Nope, no extra leads. However, the larger black eraser is very nice. The ones that come in the pen, and the little tube, are very narrow -- ideal for drafting purposes, I imagine. The leads that come with the pencil are sturdy yet thin; the little bit of writing I've done so far, the lead hasn't broken once, and I tend to press a bit hard. I've been using a .7mm pencil, but it was too thick, so this one seems great at .5mm. The pencil itself has a nice heft to it -- doesn't weigh like fluff, as the pencil I've been using does. For me, it's comfortable to hold, but I don't plan on writing a novel with it or anything. The metal may get irritating if you use it for extensive hand writing. The little colored parts on the grip don't seem to do anything for me. Out of curiosity, I pressed on the clasp and the lead retracted back into the pencil! I was like Huh! A moment before, I went to push it back in, in the usual way, and it was a bit more difficult than I'm used to. Now I see why -- the retracting mechanism will keep the lead from breaking, like it says in the description. I'm going to get the extra leads they recommend for this model of pencil. If you're into table-top RPG'ing, this would be a good choice for you. The narrow erasers would be good if you need precision. I'll probably get the other 3 sizes as well, it's a very good pencil all-in-all.

the greatest mechnical pencil in the history of the world.
If this pencil were a sword, it would be Excalibur! now, don't get me wrong, I don't think it would survive if you plunged it into a large stone, but maybe. It's a solid pencil with multiple lead settings and I like that you can press the clip and the tip of the pencil retracts to help avoid damaging the exposed lead and tip. it also has a great feel and the grip area is nice. I get a lot of nice compliments on this pencil, like "hey, that's a nice pencil!" or "where did you get that pencil?" and even "HEY, WHY ARE YOU STABBING ME WITH THAT REALLY NICE PENCIL!"but seriously, I use this for drawing, writing and occasionally to throw at the cat when he's on the kitchen counter and it's taken the abuse well. (just kidding, no cat abuse has occurred). they say that the pen is mightier than the sword, but I saw a guy get into a fight with a ninja, and that katana that cut his arm off was by far mightier. too bad he didn't have one of these bad boys, he might have been able to run away while the ninja marveled at his excellent writing utensil.

Mechanical pencil, which sets the standard
This Pentel is 'Made in Japan' and - to my opinion - sets the standard for a mechanical pencil. This is by far the best one I ever had after enjoying many models from different manufacturers for > 30 years, especially for writing music transcriptions, arrangement and composition, as well as drawing.Strong metal housing with retractable tip for protection via pen holder clip. The grip is phantastic. Extra erasers are sold with this set.

Not half bad as a alternative to a Luxory/Designer pen.
I fall under the category of pen nerd. Theres something about a luxory or designer pen, that allows me do better work..... I know its lame.My industry no longer "inks" deals like it had a decade ago but that aspect of pulling out a nice pen to wet sign and consumate the deal has never left me.Recently needed to start studying for the CFA and I wanted a pencil be able to earse notes.... But I still had the itch for a nice writting untensil.for 20 bucks, you can not beat this. itd suggest 2B lead hardness. it may be simple but anything that can encourage you to work harder, even if its as small as a nice pencil, im all for

much better price to performance than the 800 and is a ...
The pen is okay, but in my opinion it doesn't even come close to rivaling Rotring 800 in the category of retractable tip mechanical pencils in many areas varying from the grip comfort, to general ergonomics, to material and mechanism qualities. However, it has much, much better price to performance than the 800 and is a strong competitor in that aspect. The retraction mechanism is unparalleled and is the best in the market, even better than the 800 in that manner, the push mechanism is really robust too but the plastic parts in use here lack that satisfying click when you press the back.I'd highly recommend this mechanical pencil particularly to people who like to use their pen by holding it from much higher height than the paper. I.e. where you hold your pen isn't at the tip or close to the tip but closer to the center of the grip, because the retraction mechanism of this pen, when opened, makes it so tall after the grip that there is over 1 centimeter in height before the end of the lead from where the pen wants you to grip. So for those who want to grip their pencils by the end this can be uncomfortable I think, for me it was at the start but I got used to it.- The additional back erasers in this package is an amazing plus!- The big black eraser that comes together with it is alright.
