Passes the tomato & paper test
So far, so good. Ordered it Friday and was in my hand on Saturday. I bought this to replace my 38 year old Henckels paring knife that I somehow misplaced. Major Bummer. Hopefully this will serve me as well!

A must-have
Every time my darling daughter comes to visit, we end up needing to replace something, bless her! A few years ago we had to replace the dishwasher, simply because she insisted on doing the dishes and - well, I digress. Last visit, we thought it was safe to allow her to clear the table, but a few days after she flew home, we discovered our paring knife was nowhere to be found. NO where, I tell you. Must have gone into the trash with some spoons and ramekins. Oh, well. We take it in stride for the most part. But, not when it comes to my Wusthof knives. They are of such high quality and durability, not to mention beauty, I couldn’t bear to be without them. As soon as we ascertained what must have happened, I ordered a replacement. I’m eyeing it warmly as I write. Wusthov knives are a total joy to have and to use. Next visit, I’m thinking it should be safe to allow my beautiful daughter to straighten the rugs, yes?

Top quality, but make sure you buy the Wustof shapener!
Very good knife.... Wasn't thrilled with the sharpness when it came, but later got the Wustof sharpener, and after a few stokes, this knife is super sharp! Seems to be holding it's sharpness well.

German made items rule!
The knife is a perfect size for cutting anything from fruit and vegetables to meats and so forth....The edge on this knife is super, super sharp so be very careful with your fingers when handling this baby....Always clean the knife after use and dry it completely off and put it away in a knife block where it is not clanging with other pieces of silverware...Also DO NOT put this knife in a dishwasher always hand wash and like I stated completely dry it off when finished with it...Lastly when cutting with it you should use a cutting board from Japan being they use a wood that is soft and you will get many uses out of it before you have to sharpen it.

The kitchen workhorse
This knife is good for everything from mincing herbs to slicing fruit to filleting small fish - it even makes a pretty good steak knife. I finally broke down and bought a second one, so my mate and I can cook together without fighting over it.Like all the knives in the Wusthof Classic line, this knife is fully tanged and bolstered. The tang extends into the handle and offsets the weight of the blade, and the bolster sits on your index finger to provide the fulcrum point. The result is a knife that is remarkably responsive and balanced. Some reviewers prefer the larger utility knife to this 3.5 inch parer. This knife is lighter and shorter, and therefore provides a balance point that is more comfortable for a smaller hand.If you want the full arsenal of Wusthof prep knives, get the bird's-beak parer for digging the eyes out of potatoes and the stems out of peppers, get the serrated utility knife for slicing citrus and tomatoes, get the trimming knife for cutting off stems and boo-boos, and get the utility or boning knife for for slicing and meat prep. But if you just want to buy one, get this one.UPDATE (March 2014): Cook's Illustrated has just rated this knife "highly recommended" for the second time. They also recommend the Victorinox Fibrox 8-Inch Chef's Knife, and I agree.

Best paring knife I've ever owned.
This is my second purchase of this paring knife. My first knife disappeared about a month and a half ago and I could not wait to replace it. This knife has become my most used kitchen tool next to my 8-inch chef knife, and it was a true struggle to prep meals without my trusted paring knife. We eat a lot of vegetarian meals and so a good knife is essential in cooking for me with fresh veggies and herbs. You will not be disappointed in your purchase...unless someone throws it out with the potato peelings...keep an eye on it. Truly a GREAT knife!

This knife lives up to its promise as advertised, feel hefty for its size.
Our old paring knife came with our Chicago Cutlery Knife set we bought 20+ years ago. With much use and sharpening, its blade is about half its original width. Our most used knife of our set in order of use are: paring knife, Chef's knife and long slicing knife. The Chef's knife and the slicing knife are still fine, but we decided we need toreplace our old paring knife. This Wusthof Classic Paring Knife has so much more heft to it that we feel much more confident wielding it. We've found that a well-made knife with the right amount of heft gives you confidence you can feel the first time you hold it. This knife certainly gives us that feeling. It's slightly larger and heavier than our old paring knife and it's blade doesn't flex at all like our lighter old paring knife felt like it did (ever so slightly) when sharpened, so we are still adapting to it. This is our early impression with the knife. After we get more familiar with the knife, I may revisit this review.
