Excellent entry-level bass.
One of my girlfriend's cousins and I purchased this bass for my girlfriend who wants to start learning how to play. She's a huge music fan, her favorite guitar style is the SG shape, and her favorite colors are black and red, so she broke down crying out of joy for a good 10 minutes when we gave it to her on Christmas morning. One of her other cousins plays both bass and regular guitar, and both him and his guitar teacher tried out the bass and said it feels and sounds extremely good, especially given the price. During the relatively short time I've spent with it I would have to agree, and there have been absolutely zero problems with it since we received it.One additional thing worth noting about this bass is that it looks way better in person compared to the pictures on Amazon. The wood grain shows through the red finish when you look at it up close or from a short distance which gives it a really nice, classy appearance that doesn't come across in the relatively low-res on the product page.

TL;DR: Buy this bass if you want something a little higher quality. Looks good, sounds decent.
I really didn't think it would be the size of a guitar but here we are. Out of the box my EB-0 didn't have any scratches and looked beautiful. I previously had a squire jazz bass so this was definitely different. The shape of this bass is timeless and I love everything about it. The mudbucker tone is an extreme hit or miss but to me it sounds decent (I will probably buy a new pickup but we will see). I'd say it took me about 3 hours to adjust the trussrod, the bridge, and the intonation; hence the 4 stars. Some say it's neck heavy but I don't really notice. The cherry color really pops in contrast with the black pickguard. I recommend that you immediately change the strings and oil the neck because the neck comes in a really light color unlike the dark neck like in the listing photo. With the bridge: It is a 3-point mounting system and so you need to make sure it is anchored in the back so that way it is angled upward. This is so there is tension in the strings which will help your action be right where you want it. I will probably install a bridge that I can mount that way it feels a little bit more secure (to me). That's all I have to say. I have been playing bass for 5 years on and off and this is definitely a good bass for beginner to intermediate players. Pros will just complain that the sound sucks lol

Very Playable Bass On a Budget
This is an excellent low-cost bass. It's not an SG, but it's perfectly playable. The strings were set far too low when it arrived, and everything buzzed. After a little setup work, it played fine, and intonation was remarkably good for an inexpensive instrument. I bought some Fender short scale strings, which had a brighter sound than the strings that came on the bass. It doesn't have a wide range of tones, but you can use downstream modelers to get any sound that you want. It puts out a strong, clean signal, and the short scale is good for us guitar players who play bass only occasionally and find a full scale bass awkward. I plugged it directly into my Focusrite audio interface--worked perfectly.

Pickup awful
Only the A and D strings had any volume. The low E was especially subdued while the A was way too boomy. I've seen videos with the pickup swapped and the sound is way more consistent. I think for $280 you can find a much better bass. This bass has the sound of a $75 bass at best. I must say I'm really disappointed. The bass is so beautiful but really sucks, sorry.

My son's review
Here's my review of the Epiphone EB-0.I've been playing guitar for 2 years now and I thought that it was about time to upgrade. It is a fantastic overall guitar and I think that the color should be classified as red awesomeness. Good sound. The strap pin/screw is located on the back and is on the part where the neck screws on. I like the humbucker. The guitar hums/buzzes little or none hence the term "humbucker" for the pickup. Much better than the single coil normal pickups. Also comes with a Epiphone sticker that is about a foot long and is perfect for a hardshell case. Thats all I have to say about the Epiphone EB-0 Bass Guitar
