Few things will improve pinewood derby car speeds like axle quality. Races are won and lost on quality axles.These axles are pretty good. They come polished, but I still ran them through some 2500 grit sandpaper to really make them shine. The bigger size makes them a little more fussy to place in the block, but I noticed significantly less tire wobble, which is why I got them in the first place. And the steel is stronger than other axles I have worked with- polishing them didn't diminish their diameter like I have seen with some other axles. Will likely buy again next year. I would have given them 5 stars if they weren't so expensive. It's like a special tax on pinewood derby nerds.

The axles made a big difference. My son took 1st place in his den and 3rd out of the entire pack. Not to mention he didn't have to do anything to axles except install them. They were individually wrapped and ready to go.

These axles combined with some graphite and we’ll placed weights helped get my son 1st place in his pack. Will be buying again next year

The polished axles are indeed better than the ones that come with the Pinewood Derby car kit. They are straight and true. However, if you check the official Pinewood Derby rules it States that " official axles must be used" or the car will not qualify (rule #15).

Set two track records and took the regionals. I did polish them more to the point of they looked like mirrors. Did sane for my grandsons car he did the same cleared the entire events and set a record also

One of our cars won first in den for the Tigers and the other won second in den or the Bears and third overall for the entire pack - totally recommend!!!
