P-38 Lightning Vol. 1: Lockheed’s XP-38 to P-38H in World War II (Legends of Warfare: Aviation)

Catching Lightning in a Bottle!
Prolific author David Doyle presents the first in a two-part homage to the innovative P-38 Lightning fighter. The only fighter in production at war's beginning and end, Lockheed's twin-engined beauty compiled a mixed combat record in service around the world. While a war-winner in the Pacific, the fighter did not perform as well in the ETO and MTO. This first volume summarizes the XP-38 to H models; the second will cover the J and L versions, which were the definitive combat models. The book runs to 112 pages with short summaries of each model along with dozens of b&w and color photographs. Overall, a good introduction to a classic fighter. Recommended.

Gutes Buch
