Box measures approx. 4.5" W x 2.5" H x 1.5" Depth Butter Mold Instructions: - insert dry and assembled mold into a freezer for 30-40 minutes - remove it from the freezer and fill with softened butter (Optional step: Prior to filling with softened butter, lightly coat the inside of the form with cooking oil or non-stick cooking spray.) - place into freezer for another 40-50 minutes - carefully open mold by wedging a butter knife into the cutout - delicately remove frozen form - Clean the mold with water and mild detergent. It can be a pain, but if you follow careful steps, you will have a lovely little butter lamb to put on your table. Here's how I do it: I soak the mold the day before in cold water (don't know why, my mother did this so I do it now, too). I dry it off and spray it with Pam, then spackle softened butter generously on each half of the mold. I stick the two halves together and rubberband the mold tightly before freezing circa 2 hours. Usually one half of the mold comes off pretty easily, but the other half can be tricky to dislodge. I have found that a hot knife (just dip it in hot water and then dry it) usually works well; run it along the edges of the mold and slip it in as far it will go, applying pressure to wiggle the lamb out. Sometimes pieces, especially from the head, stay stuck in the mold - just get creative with soft butter to mold the shape in place or "glue" any errant pieces back on.We usually give the lamb a little boxwood leaf tail and ears and a tiny little currant nose and eyes.
