Seven Big Ones for lots of fun! Hall & Oates start off the countdown of seven with 'Say It Isn''t So', 'Family Man', growling onto 'Maneater', 'Private Eyes' 'Adult Education' and conclude the trip down pop memory lane with 'I Can''t Go For That (No Can Do)' to finish with 'One On One'.

"7 Grainy Ones": Atrocious DVD
AVOID THIS! The source material for this DVD was clearly VHS tape, as the audio and video quality is beyond substandard. It's awful enough to release a set this skimpy when Hall & Oates have a vast video catalog to draw from. It's downright criminal when the 7 videos shown look and sound as bad as they do. Hopefully, RCA (which owns the masters) will see to it to release a comprehensive Best Of career set of H&O, the best-selling duo in rock history. I own 400+ DVDs and have never seen anything this bad. Laserlight, you're light years behind the technological curve.

Sadly, I agree - Not a great release
This DVD could have been so much, but instead we got so little. No imagination what so ever has gone into this release, no extras - nothin'! Of course the songs are great and the videos have a certain place in our hearts, but after 20 years we all had those on VHS somewhere in the collection anyway - so what is the point of this DVD ? I have added an extra star because the version of Familiy Man is the longer one as apposed the the single release.

7 Big Ones
Seven of the best videos of Hall & Oates. Old style TV type videos. I would have really preferred a live concert DVD but the price was right.

Hall and Oates scores 7/7
Please welcome DARYL HALL & JOHN OATES, those words still ring an echo, even after 32 yrs after first hearing those opening words to their "Rock 'n' Soul Live In Concert", it takes me back to the time when Hall & Oates were named as the most successful duo in music history and still are. While watching "7 Big Ones" the musical blending of Rock meets Soul paints a clear picture has to why Hall & Oates were undoubtedly worthy of respect by their peers for their ability to cross stylistic boundaries. Containing three Number one hit single's "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)", Private Eyes" and "Maneater", their strong hooks and rhythmic melodically compositions bare the traditional hallmarks of Soul thru Daryl Hall's silky-smooth soulful voice and John Oates' harmonisations but yet is not enslaved to the sound by musical instrumentation incorporating elements of Rock and New Wave. The opening track "Say It Isn't So"(No.2) is a true testimonial with heavy chords and a deep back beat simular to "Maneater" although originally planned by John as a Reggae style , it was suggested by Daryl that a Motown feel would be more suitable. The track "Family Man(No.6) a Mike Oldfield composition gets an extended life as the video drives it's way through with the Extended Rock Mix. "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) treats you to the album version with a delicate charming video to suit the smoothness of Daryl's silky-soft voice and the closing track "One On One"(No.7) gives out the same vocal appeasement with mainly Daryl appearing in the video. Chart topper "Private Eyes" Video features the band dressing up as 1950's Private Investigators and also was the first to feature the new back up group consisting of Tom T-Bone Wolk (Bassist ), G.E. Smith (Guitarist), Mickey Curry (Drummer) and Charlie (Mr. Casual) DeChant (Saxophonist /Keyboardist) "Adult Education" (No.8) hardening to the Rock genre blends more of a Hip Hop culture which in itself acted as a bridge for Hall & Oates' next venture with the release of the "Big Bam Boom" album. All in all the dvd is for any Hall & Oates fan, a must have for their collection. I use to own 7 Big Ones" on VHS upon it's first release and now finally own it on dvd. I would give the dvd 7/7 in fact I'm going to. Brilliant and fantastic, this is a truly a great testimonial to the vintage Daryl Hall & John Oates of the eighties. The sound, the visuals all pack together with the biggest selling duo in music history

I had been trying to get a copy of this ...
I had been trying to get a copy of this DVD (or similar DVD with these videos on) as I have an old VHS copy. Prior listed versions were NTSC Region 1 recordings so I jumped at the chance of a Region 2 PAL version. Er no....when it arrives three players tell me it's a Region 1 DVD so it has been returned.

The most succesful musical duo ever
Even though this only goes up to 1984 there are many classic tracks not included. Remember that they had 6 US no 1s. Too short

Love it!
I love Hall & Oates. This video did not disappoint. It has video versions of some of their hits that are different from their album versions. I love the alternate takes. Only problem is it doesn’t have all of their videos.
