was meant to be new but just missing the packaging and manuals. but the watch face was scratched in two spots. a bummer BUT the face is a blue that has a silver tone under light or twisting the face. so the scratches dissapear when light shifts. so i am trying to ignore the less than perfect condition. otherwise, i am appreciating the nature of this swiss watch. as a kid in the 80s i always wanted one of these but my poor military family couldnt afford such things. then my mom got one as a gift from her father. i envied it. all the cool kids with some money had them. so now in my 40s and still frugal lessons of my youth abound, i have my own. it is a little on the feminine side but more so because it's kind of a yuppie look. reminds me of a homemade quilt and i love quilts. it is waterproof and i have tested the watch and was very happy with the results. very easy to read in most lighting. the hands are white and offset very nicely. dont expect too much out of the lume but it does have some and i imagine that the swiss prefer a soft lume so it isnt too strong in the dark. very sensible folk the Swiss. perfect size also at least for me and im a fairly big bloak. a comfortable band. but i am noticing that at the hinges it makes a noise that i would prefer not to hear, as the second hand ticks with a little volume to it as well. so when both sounds mix its squeaky and depending on how ocd im feeling that day can be like nails on a chalkboard. but im handling it without meds. so overall guys n gals this timepiece is worth your time and a few gold pieces. find one that jumps out at you and go for it. they are much prettier than their pictures and there is just something about wearing one of these that says "yeah im fun and dont take things too seriously". good luck with your window shopping!
