Harbinger Pro Non-Wristwrap Vented Wash & Dry Glove with Padded Leather Palm (Old Style)

A lot of shooters dislike wearing gloves when shooting. Some shooters feel it necessary to wear gloves for heavy-recoiling magnums. Some shooters prefer a full-fingered glove while other shooters prefer ½ finger glove.Recently, I ordered a pair of Harbinger Pro gloves as a set second to my usual shooting gloves. I prefer ½ finger gloves and perused information about many gloves before settling on the Harbinger. I had used P.A.S.T gloves in the past (no pun intended) and they were fine gloves until they weren’t. The stitching finally gave out and I decided to no longer spend a fortune on shooting gloves.I like the protection that shooting gloves provide to my hand. I had TCS (Tunnel-Carpal Syndrome) once. It seemed to come on from using a mouse while going about the tedious work of technical writing. I switched to a track-ball mouse and the CTS disappeared. Since that time, I have been concerned about nerve damage to the hand when shooting calibers above .22.About a year ago, I started to wear a shooting glove. Actually intended for riding bicycles, the glove provided support in the thumb area and that is where most of the recoil heads when you shoot a handgun.Some say that I won’t be wearing gloves in a defensive situation and I should practice in real-world condition. I know people that can no longer shoot a handgun because of various ailments, such as arthritis, because it is too painful to shoot. I fully understand that. I have, after a shooting session, suffered from hand cramps on occasion. Wearing shooting glove has eliminated that and I enjoy shooting more. Shooting more rounds and shooting more often makes for a pleasant day.The Harbinger Pro glove is made from real leather. It has a double leather palm for durability and a fully-adjustable wrist closure. Additionally, it is comprised of open cell foam padding and finger cushioning. It is double stitched for durability. Most important to me, there is wrap-around thumb protection and it exist just where you will experience the push or snap of a handgun’s recoil.The Harbinger Pro glove does add width to your gun-gripping technique. The padding, for me, is near perfect whether I am holding a Glock G21, a 1911-style pistol, or my favorite carry – the Springfield XDs 3.3 .45. The padding also help to hold the gun in place within my grip and helps me to get back on target faster after the gun fires. Even the Glock G26 feels at home within the open cell foam padding of the glove.Although intended for lifting weights, the Harbinger Pro glove is perfectly at home at the shooting range.The ½ finger design allows for that tactile feel of a trigger that we have come to know and love. Full-fingered gloves, even those very expensive tactical gloves don’t provide me with that feeling. I am person who loves the throaty exhaust of a well-tuned Harley Davidson with drag-pipes and the tune of a big V-8 motor cruising down the road. Why would I insulate myself from the feeling the pull of a trigger?A shooting glove is part of my recoil management system and also aids me in controlling firearms other than handguns – like pistol-gripped shotguns and an AR10-based rifle. A shooting glove has helped me overcome flinching, as I no longer concern myself with it even after a long shooting session. This is a case of no pain is gain.The gloves fit nicely and are not stiff when new; they get better as they get worn in. Give the Harbinger Pro gloves a try. It may take a while to become accustomed to them, but I believe that you will be calling them your shooting buddies in the long run. The Harbinger Pro gloves has really affected my shooting in a positive way. I am more than satisfied with them.

UPDATE 11/16/12:The gloves are still perfect. I haven't even washed them since I bought them (haha) - and guess what? They don't smell! I have a black pair and they don't look dirty at all! Very happy with these gloves. I got the black pair for myself and a yellow pair for a friend but the yellow ones do get dirty.-----------I followed everyone's advice and bought a pair one size larger. The gloves fit me perfectly! Before buying I measured my hand's circumference using a small ruler - it was hard but I measured about 20cm which is ~ 7.9inches = medium. So I ordered large. Perfect fit! Almost all the negative reviews of this product are about the size and nothing else.It takes me 15seconds to take off each glove. It's not hard at all.I love how my hands NEVER sweat! Other gloves make your hands sweat but not these ones!! So the design definitely works.Since the hands don't sweat, the gloves don't give out a smell which is great also!The gloves look great. They feel great - very tight feeling. They are extremely comfortable and I love wearing them! The length on the fingers is just right, as well as the length on the wrists.When I first put on the gloves I thought - good amount of padding. When I went to lift weights for the first time with them on I thought they had more padding than necessary. After 3 days of lifting the padding has softened up and now they feel perfect!Pushups: these gloves helped me a lot! Before when I didn't have gloves my wrists would hurt when doing pushups (standard), but with these gloves my wrists no longer hurt AND the number of pushups I could do noticeably increased!One thing to note: when lifting light weights the padding sort of interferes with your "accurate control". For example, I did skull crushers with a curl bar and only 45lbs (light weight) and I was able to do much more reps WITHOUT the gloves. On the other hand with heavy weights they work perfect (e.g. bench press or barbell curls) and my number of reps increased noticeably now that I have gloves! So: excellent for heavy lifting, but for very light lifting you shouldn't wear them.Verdict: highly recommend these gloves. When you get them, try them on for a couple days and you'll come to love them! So far I have no complaints whatsoever!This review last updated on: 3/18/12

I hit the gym hard and I use gloves to keep blisters and calluses at bay. I tore up my last pair of gloves in less than 2 weeks and so far these have gone for well over a month with no real issues. Some of the stitching on the velcro has come up but it doesn't seem to be running.My issue with these gloves is in the sizing. I stay down in the single digit body-fat percentages, I have big hands but I'm not a beefcake (6'2" 170) . Following the sizing guide I'm an XL and the gloves fit well across my knuckles and in the palm. The problem is this XL assumes large finger and wrist girth. There's too much room in the fingers and I have to tuck the glove under itself to get the wrist tight (which is probably why the velcro stitching started to pop). There's quite a bit of stretchy material in these gloves, maybe consider dropping down a size if you have bigger hands but not fat fingers.All in all, high quality product that stands up to a beating, I just wish they were a bit tighter in the wrist and fingers. The issues I have with the sizing aren't nearly enough to keep from using these. They still get daily hardcore use and are holding up well.

Ich habe oben genannten Handschuhe "Harbinger Pro Gloves" in der Größe XL vor ziemlich genau 6 Monaten bestellt.Erster Eindruck:Sehr gute Verarbeitung. Das Material erscheint dick und solide vernäht. Die Handschuhe hatten beim Tragen insgesamt ein gutes Handgefühl. Die entsprechenden Stellen der Handschuhe sind zusätzlich gepolstert. Anfangs sind sie, wie man sich denken kann, etwas steif. Nach ein paar Bewegungen, bzw. nach den ersten Trainingseinheiten hatte sich das erledigt. Das führt mich zur nächsten Kategorie:Praxis:- Vorweg sei erwähnt, dass ich seit 5 Jahren regelmäßig (4-5 Mal/Woche) ins Fitnessstudio gehe. Bei den Gewichten bin ich beim Muskeltraining nicht gerade zimperlich. Bevorzugt führe ich "Freihantel-Übungen" durch. Das bedeutet: Keine gummierten Griffe, keine vorgeschriebenen Bewegungen. Rohe Eisengriffe, entsprechend angeraut und entsprechend MATERIALBELASTEND. -Sehr unangenehm fiel mir bei anderen, günstigeren Modellen auf, dass diese sich im Bereich der Finger Richtung Hand "aufrollen", was dazu führte, dass ich nunmehr keine Schwielen mehr an der Handfläche, sondern an den Fingern hatte. Dies ist bei den Harbingern NICHT der Fall! Hier macht sich die Qualität des Materials bemerkbar.Nach 6 Monaten in Benutzung:Der oben genannten Beanspruchung haben die Handschuhe bis dato weitestgehend standgehalten. Lediglich auf der Handfläche, am Übergang von Daumen zu Hand (im Bereich des Daumensattelgelenks) ribbelt die Naht auf. Hier ist die Beanspruchung bei Übungen wie Bankdrücken natürlich am höchsten. Dies kann man bewerten, wie man möchte. ICH gebe hier, auch angesichts des Preises, Punktabzug!Zuvor hatte ich immer Handschuhe, die ein Drittel der Harbinger gekostet haben. Diese haben annähernd genauso lange gehalten (nervig hier das Aufrollen an den Fingern). Ein guter Wert für die Harbinger wäre für mich wenigstens ein Jahr "Ausdauer".Ein Trainingskollege von mir hat sich vor fünf Jahren in den USA Trainingshandschuhe gekauft, die seither halten (für 10 Dollar). Ich frage mich, wieso Harbinger nicht ähnlich solide Handschuhe hinbekommt.Daher gebe ich 3 von 5 Sternen. Hätten es die Harbinger Pro Gloves etwas länger "gemacht" würde ich definitiv 4 Sterne geben. Hätten sie sehr viel länger als 6 Monate kontinuierliches Training durchgehalten, hätte ich auch 5 Sterne gegeben.Vielleicht muss man sich auch einfach damit abfinden, dass man bei diesem Trainingspensum 2-3 Paar Handschuhe/Jahr verschleißt. Da bin ich aber bestimmt kein Einzelfall. Auf so hohem Niveau trainiere ich auch wieder nicht..

...also diesmal auch eine Rezension dabei. Kurz und gut: Ich habe zahlreiche Handschuhe durchprobiert und bin inzwischen dauerhaft bei diesen gelandet. Ich trainiere ca. 4x die Woche - nicht ganz anfängermäßig, allerdings auch weit entfernt von Profi ;-) Dafür reichts. Mag gut sein, dass 2x2-Meter-Profibodybuilder was anders brauchen - kann ich nicht beurteilen. Ich glaube ich bin da aber ganz gut ein zwar harmloser aber doch sehr repräsentativer Durchschnitt :-)Viele andere Handschuhe zerfielen deutlich früher in alle Bestandteile. Diese hier hab ich wie gesagt seit fast genau 3 Jahren. Habe gerade in der Amazon-Bestellhistorie nochmal nachgesehen. Auch jetzt sind sie überhaupt nicht kaputt, aber natürlich sehen sie jetzt auch nicht mehr wie neu aus (Schwarz etwas verblasst, weil sie manchmal im Auto lagen und die Sonne drauf schien etc). Ich denke alle 3 Jahre eine Investition ist schon vertretbar. Wenn ich überlege was manche für Nahrungsergänzung ausgeben... Insgesamt kann ich die empfehlen - besonders wenn man noch ein vernünftiges Hand & Fingergefühl braucht. Manche sind ja so extrem gefüttert, dass man alles wie durch Watte greift. Auf dem Weg zur Gewichterheber-Olympiade vlt. notwendig - mir ist das zu viel.Ich mag das übrigens auch nicht, wenn die so eng sitzen, so dass man kaum vernünftig mit den Fingern greifen kann. Ich nutze XL. Das ist genau perfekt. Obwohl ich meine Hände jetzt eigentlich nicht für übermäßig groß halte... Hm. Also tendenziell und völlig unwissenschaftlich würde ich sagen: Eher etwas größer bestellen!

Nachdem ich 0815 Handschuhe für das Training im Fitnessstudio hatte habe ich mir mal etwas hochwertigeres gegönnt.Ich habe meine Hand wie beschrieben gemessen und war an der Untergrenze der Größe L. In meinen alten Handschuhen hatte ich XL. Ich habe mich dann doch für L entschieden. Die Handschuhe kamen und machten einen lockeren Eindruck, beim Training aber sehr eingeben, es schneiden keine Nähte in die Hand oder so.Nach dem ersten Training waren meine Handballen komplett schwarz eingefärbt. Deswegen sind die Handschuhe direkt in der Waschmaschine gelandet, sind ja laut Beschreibung Waschmaschine und Trockner geeignet. Nach dem Waschen wollte ich sie in den Trockner werfen und habe auf dem Etikett gesehen "Handwash only / air dry online". Was nun? Ja oder nein...? Beim Waschen ist nichts passiert, aber trocknen lasse ich die gerade auf der Heizung.Ich bin mal gespannt wie lange die Nähte halten werden, meine alten 12,99€ Handschuhe haben 2 Jahre lang 4-5 mal die Woche herhalten müssen.

Shipping fast, item as described! I went one size up as suggested by the comments, however I found them to be a bit too big. I'm working with it though.Things they work well for: free weights and anything involving a barbell.Things they work not so well for: anything involving pull ups, chin ups or overhead bars as I find they get in the way of gripping. That said, it might just be my weak grip and I'm working on it to see if I can hang on. This might also be due to the face that they were a bit big and slide around on my hand too much.Overall, they're pretty good at a cheap price and they're saving my poor hands from obliteration.

Die Harbinger Handschuhe sind sehr ordentlich verarbeitet, für den Preis habe ich aber auch nix anderes erwartet. Der Grip ist gut. Ich würde die Pro Gloves wieder kaufen, allerdings dann eine Nummer kleiner. Ich hatte die Größe entsprechend der Tabelle ausgewählt (basierend auf Handumfang) und muss sagen, dass die Handschuhe im Bereich des Handtellers sehr gut passen. Leider sitzen sie am Rest der Hand sehr locker, besonders dort, wo sich der Verschluss befindet. Erste Bedenken, das könne sich beim Training negativ auswirken, haben sich aber nicht bestätigt. Auch um die Finger herum sind sie etwas zu weit. Hier spürt man beim Tragen und Trainieren, dass man etwas zu viel Stoff zwischen den Fingern hat.Allen, die sich aufgrund der Größendiskussion hier nicht entscheiden können, rate ich: bestellt 2 Paar und schickt eins wieder zurück.
