Book is in excellent condition!
Book was packaged in a padded envelope which really pleased me because the USPS can be very hard on books delivered via mail. Also the book is clean and it is in excellent condition. It smells clean. No musty odor or yellow pages.

Hallelujah!
My 2 1/2 year old rough and tumble boy loves this book. It is such a gentle book (for him), I never thought he'd settle down and listen to it, but he does 100% of the time. Of course I always make the stair CREEEEAK, the door SQUEEEEAK, the big door GROOOOAN, and the big stair MOOOOANNNN, but he also seems to really relate to everything in the book. The context is just perfect for his age. Well before he (& his friends) learned the words for other things, they knew what a door was, time for bed, stairs, cats, barns, and even owls. And the pacing is perfect, gently lulling while the action changes. Love it, love it, love it. Can't wait to get the new copy & retire the one that belonged to my mother. (It got pretty roughed up during my sister & my childhood, when we loved it a little too hard)

Such a sweet story
My copy of this is from a Scholastic book sale in the 1977-78 school year(!), when I was in first grade— 40+ years later, I have a first-grader who loves it. Just one problem: the last page was missing. So I ordered a gently-used copy— it’s in great shape and yep, has the last page. So much fun seeing my little guy enjoying this sweet, gentle tale of a little ghost and his friends just like I did.

Still Wonderful after all these years
My two sons loved this gentle and sweet story when they were small. I loved it too and we used to have a copy that was much-loved and well-read. It got lost in one of our numerous moves and I did so want to have at least one copy. I was thrilled to find it here on Amazon. It's a great read and non-scary and so sweet and fun. It sits proudly on my bookshelf along my grownup books. And I still read it now and then. My sons were happy to see it too and enjoyed reading it and sharing their memories of our times with this lovely book. Hooray for the internet and Amazon!

A Charming--Not Scary--Ghost Story
I first read this book in very early elementary school (perhaps 1st grade) in the 1960s, and I was pleased to buy this. Recently I read it to my daughters (now 20 and 17), and they enjoyed the simple story and illustrations and that they too would have loved the book when they were little kids. This is not a rollicking fun read in the vein of something like Dr. Seuss' "Fox in Sox," and is instead a more charming, gentle read in the vein of "Goodnight Moon."

A favored story from childhhood.
This was a favored story as a young child, and was occasionally reread even through my teenage years. I do not know if my parents still have this book (and accompanying record), I have not seen it, & could not resist when I saw it as an audiobook for $0.99. A simple book, but great memories. As the narrator read I could still envision the drawings from the original book. The narrator excelled in bringing the story to life (so to speak). Do I recommend it? That is a hard question. If it was a favorite memory, as for me, then yes. If you are considering this for your child, I think it is lacking without the book; the drawings seem so important to me. Maybe it will come out in kindle format someday, or you are willing to buy a copy of the physical book. Incidentally, in looking for a kindle version I discovered there was an entire series, which I did not know.

Such a sweet, lovely story
Such a sweet, lovely story. These were some of my favorites growing up and I am on a mission to read all the books of my childhood all over again. Revisiting Georgie has been a wonderful trip. I plan to read all the other books as I find them. Gus the ghost is on my list as well. I suggest you give these books a read for your kids, grandkids or even yourself.
