incredible sound, Incredible headphones
What an incredible set of headphones. I will admit, I've never once considered myself to be an audiophile but recently I have been on a headphone purchasing kick. After several headphone purchases I'll run through some points of these fantastic headphones. The first thing most people should worry about with Bluetooth headphones is the weight and feel on the head. These headphones do not weigh enough to feel like you are wearing a heavy set on your head. I've worn these over the past week on my head for very long sessions of gaming, listening to music and watching television. On the head, they do not clamp hard around your head (yes, this has been an issue for me in the past with another set) so you will not suffer from headaches or get overall relief when removing them from your head. Let's discuss the sound quality with these headphones. First, these headphones sound great overall. Every high and mid is crisp. Not once have I felt that I am missing something when listening to music or watching television. Bass is also responsive but not strong enough to drown out all other sounds. One thing some people may have an issue with is that when you increase the volume on the headphones, they do not get loud enough to blow your ears off. I'm not complaining as I do not like music that loud, but I know some people do some crazy things with headphones, so I thought I'd mention they are loud, but not deafeningly loud. As far as sound leakage goes, I have asked several people around, and not one has said they heard noise. I'm sure this also depends on the level you listen to music, but for me no one has said anything. Discussing the Bluetooth features, I have not once had an issue with the Bluetooth. I have not had any random cut-outs and connecting to new devices is easy enough. These headphones will allow you to connect to a music device and a phone at the same time. This means you can listen to music streaming from a PC but receive a call (stops the music) and chat away. Depending on the phone connected, the headphones even allow you to reply back to messages. Callers say I sound perfectly fine and barely notice a difference when compared to talking on the phone directly. There is a rocker switch on the right earphone which allows you to switch tracks and pause/play the track. Also on the right earphone, there is a volume rocker which alerts you when you have reached max and min volume. On the left earphone you have the power button and a 3.5mm aux jack. The headphones come with a standard 3.5 mm cord from Sony to connect to non Bluetooth devices and I find there is no difference in sound quality when using the jack. Some headphones actually provide better sound through the jack, which means the Bluetooth sound has degraded. For this headset, there is none of that, so it goes to show the quality of the Bluetooth connection. Battery life is amazing for this set. Not once have I felt like I was cut short with battery life. In fact, not once have these died on me after several hours of usage. Charging isn't too bad, but the few times I've charged them I just plug them in overnight or when I know I will not be using them for a while. One of the things I liked best about these headphones is they are not flashy and do not scream for attention as some other headphones do. They come with a simple carrying pouch which keeps them from scratching or ruining the leather. Speaking of the leather, these have some incredibly soft leather around the cups and top band support. Overall, I think these are hands down an incredible pair of headphones. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending these to anyone. They have a 40mm driver and provide clear and strong sound. Range is decent when connected to a Bluetooth device. I can get out to about 20 feet before it starts cutting out. Hope this lengthy review helped anyone looking for a quality set of Bluetooth headphones.

Extremely Comfortable and Good Value/Performance Bluetooth Headphones
The Sony MDR-10RBT are exactly what I expected, solid mid-level Bluetooth headphones for mobile use. They offer enough flexibility to be used interchangeably for PC gaming (CS:GO) when wires and high-fidelity is not absolutely required. The fact that they perform much better with their "passive-mode" using a 3.5mm cable is a welcomed plus. I had a change to compare these headsets side by side with the MDR-ZX750BN (Noise Cancelling) wireless headphones. The only feature that I'd liked to see from the MDR-ZX750BN on these would be noise cancelling. Everything else, especially comfort, the MDR10RBT is equal or better when compared to its cousin. Moreover, the MDR-ZX750BN would not work when playing Counter Strike in headphone mode, only hands-free headset; probably a driver issue. ~Build & Design~ The MDR-10RBT look and feel well built. Although the entire shell is made of plastic, the matte finish on the solid backing makes them look premium. After using it for several days, I still haven't seen any scratch on them. The silver pivot joint gives a slight look of metal, although it falls short of completely reproducing the "metal" look in full lighting. Still, the overall plastic parts look much better than other name-brands headsets costing three times as much. The leatherette used for both the headband and ear cushions is very soft and seem well attached. There's no outer stitching that might come undone or damaged. The ear pads are very comfortable to wear for several hours, even if you use glasses. I still haven't felt the need to take them off due to discomfort, unlike the MDR-ZX750BN model that would become painful after just 20 mins of wear. The only complain I have about the design of the MDR10RBT would be the padding on the headband might be slightly thin, and could use a little more material. Still, after a few minutes, awareness of the headband along with the rest of the headphones "disappears." No big deal really. ~Performance~ These headphones are placed at the entry-level of audiophile sets. Therefore, you should not expect them to compare with more expensive units. With that said, they sound extremely well for their price-point giving a good value in performance/cost. Having into account these are Bluetooth headphones, makes the package even better since you'll be hard-pressed to find other BT-enabled cans with such a meaty sound as these. At first, you'll find the sound somewhat hollow. That's to be expected having into account that they have a bigger acoustic cone than the comparable MDR-ZX750BN. After a few hours, the headphones will sound somewhere between a "jazz hall" to a "listening room" size. Vocals and mids are slightly warmer at default settings. Sometimes the low range might overwhelm/drown mids, therefore some equalizer tweaking might be necessary. Still, these aren't bass-heads headphones. Overall, these have a very nice sound after just a few hours of burn-in. I found myself enjoying some rock/grunge and jazz, rather than listening to (appreciating) individual instruments when listening to classical. On Bluetooth, they never felt under-powered, however keep in mind that using them in passive-mode with the included wire will give you a much better listening experience, which is always a plus. The Bluetooth feature worked as expected, and gives enough range to walk around in a 1,600sqf home without interruptions. The NFC feature is also very solid too. It comes in handy when the headphones are currently paired to a PC, and all it takes to be transferred over to a mobile device is to tap on them. Pros: - Very, very comfortable. - Good looking. - Excellent performance at price-point. - NFC works great when using between devices. Cons: - Might need a little equalizer tweaking depending on your preference. - Thin headband padding, but it doesn't affect long-term comfort.

Wonderful headphones, great sound, let down by poor materials
These headphones were my favorites for as long as I owned them, until the material on the left earpiece started to separate from the sponge. The other negative is the lack of a hard-shell carry case. The sound quality, comfort, and ease of use are outstanding. Since the introduction of the iPhone 7, the availability of Bluetooth headsets has grown exponentially across all price ranges. Like with wired headphones, choosing the most suitable has become increasingly difficult with the availability of choice. One person's idea of value varies completely with the next person's. how does one compare a top of the range of $500 headset with those that cost $20. To simplify this decision, I have created a multi-criteria model, using 16 criteria. Each of the criteria is scored with a maximum of 10, and each of the criteria is given a weighting according to its relative importance. Some of the criteria have an arithmetic weighting, while others are simple arithmetic weight. To date, I have conducted evaluations on six different Bluetooth headsets. The score for the Sony MDR10RBT is 459 (out of a possible 674). The table below sets out the different headsets that have been tested, and provides a score for each. Below that is an explanation for each of the criteria. Model Type Price Score Link MonsterCube MC801 in-ear $20.99 413 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N5CQO0F Phaiser BHS-750 in-ear $45.99 487 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M3575QC Ghostek soDrop 2 over-ear $79.95 474 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M7PV6PN SoundPEATS QY7 in-ear $19.99 390 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PEPIWNI Photive PH-BTE50 in-ear $29.95 265 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QMSGGIO Sony MDR10RBT over-ear $134.99 459 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FJISZ8M Evaluations are naturally subjective. Technical products have numerous criteria, and these have relative importance. In looking at Bluetooth headsets, sound quality is far more important (at least for me) that looks. Some of the criteria, like sound quality and price that have values that change exponentially. This evaluation is part of a test using a number of different headsets from different manufacturers, with prices ranging from $20-$200. To provide equivalence, 16 criteria have been used, each with its own weight. Three of the criteria, sound, price and durability use a geometric scale. Although the model is complex, the result produces a single score for each headset, that simplifies comparison. Within each of the criteria there are factors that have affected the evaluation. These are set out in more detail below: Sound Sound is complex. I'm not an audiophile. I prefer the sound to be as close as possible to the original, rather than enhanced. That said, it should be rich. Because sound is so important, the waiting is on a geometric scale. Support When a product fails, the evaluation of the support is based on the response. Otherwise, the availability of an online manual and the technical details provided on the website is used as a proxy. Price Price is scored inversely, with low prices scoring more highly. The prices are ranked using $25 increments, and weighted geometrically. Quality This is the measure of the materials used, including the body, cabling, buttons, earpieces and packaging, where applicable. Durability The measure of durability is difficult to determine in the absence of more rigorous and extended testing. To some extent, durability can be determined looking at the quality of construction. Some of the products failed or broke, and this provides clear evidence of the durability. All the Bluetooth products are reliant on built-in rechargeable batteries, and this has a direct impact on the lifespan of the product. Only those products that have a cable as an alternative input can be expected to have an extended lifespan. Looks This is a very subjective criterion, and has been given a low weighting. Comfort There are a number of factors that affect comfort. Fit is particularly important. The in ear headsets are evaluated taking consideration that the earpiece need not be forced into the ear to ensure good noise isolation, and that even with extended wear, do not become uncomfortable. Ideally, the fit should ensure that the headset stays securely in place. Similarly, the over ear headsets should not cause any discomfort. Over ear can cause the wearer to feel uncomfortably warm in temperate climates, and this is also affected into the scoring. Ease-of-use Binding, switching on and off, and charging are all included in measuring ease-of-use. Battery life A 15 hour long distance flight is used to define the full score for battery life. Controls Buttons that are used to switch the device on and off, switch tracks, and bind are evaluated in this criterion. Convenience Ease of portability, and protection during travel was used for the evaluation of this criterion. Accessories Cases, additional earpieces, and fitting accessories are used to determine the score for this feature. Connectivity This refers to the Bluetooth connectivity, both in the initial connection, and interference from connectivity during extended play. Phone quality The Skype call testing was used to determine phone call quality. Noise isolation The ability of the headset to eliminate the sound of a full stream of running water with music playing at a moderate level is used to determine noise isolation. Secondary noise The noise that one can hear from somebody else's headphones defines secondary noise. The less there is, the higher the score. I hope that this helps in choosing a headset that works for you.

Comfortable, Sleek, Good Sound, Competitive Price
I did a lot of research on BT headphones before settling on these and what I found was that there were four main areas to consider in searching for the ideal BT headphone. The first is whether the headphone is comfortable or not. Headphones that sit on the ear tend to cause your ears to get sore after a few hours. This can be frustrating. This Sony pair sits over the ear which creates a much more comfortable experience. Design was another area of emphasis. I have many bizarre looking headphones in my computer room but in public you want something that's sleek and allows you to blend in. This Sony BT headphone looks absolutely stunning. It's a very sharp design with quality materials. Sound quality is another area of importance. These support AAC and APT-X along with older BT transfer methods. They're BT 4.0 which offers the latest and greatest sound in consumer electronics. Lastly is the price. Some of these headphones can go upward of $300. The recent price cut from Sony has these at just under $150. Nothing really compares. Beats and Sennheiser headphones with similar tech tend to be all upward of $200. The cheaper brands aren't nearly as sleek and usually lack the technical features of this set (NFC, APT-X, etc.) These come with a pretty useless bag to carry around in. It's made of quality materials but the shape isn't sturdy like the bag that comes with the Sennheiser BT headphone. On the other hand the audio cable is made of extremely durable material. Though the cable is stuck with a right angle connector on one end. I've seen other headphones with mechanical connectors that switch from right angle to straight, this would've been a nice feature on the aux cable. Another disappointment is that some of the features on this headphone are not being accepted by consumer tech companies. Apple mobile devices like the iTouch5 do not support either NFC or APT-X. The Google Nexus 5, less than half a year old, does not support APT-X. With how good these sound even without APT-X, I wonder if they might have been wiser to remove both APT-X and NFC and release these at an even lower price, or maintained the price and added other features (perhaps the ability for multipairing). Regardless of the direction of the BT headphone, I feel I got a great value on this product. The sound is really impressive and I can't imagine there are any headphones on the market that sound much better given the limitations of the BT standard.

Great bluetooth headphones! Sounds AMAZING - you may have to burn them in.
Very happy with these headphones. Connecting them via bluetooth to my HTC One M8 and Macbook are simple. Having the controls to start/pause, forward/reverse track, answer/end calls and up/down volume on the headphone is great. I tested calls on them and they sound fine to the other person. I also left myself a voicemail to see how it sounds and I can't that I'm using the headphones. I can't say how it does with calls if you're outside with wind or in a noisier environment, but they're totally acceptable for taking calls at my desk or around the house. As far as the build quality, it's not too bad. It's mostly plastic but it feels like quality plastic, I guess you can say. It looks very nice also. Perfect for a work setting, on the airplane, in the classroom, etc. I think it's a bit too nice for the gym or running, IMHO. The headband has a nice soft feel to it and it's very comfortable on the head. I love that the headphones turn ninety degrees toward you (if you're wearing them). So for example, when I take them off and wear them around my neck, I can swivel the headphones in so that the speaker area is on my chest, rather than facing outward. Gives my chin some more room to move around also in this position. The MDR1 series turned the opposite direction and I don't know why. Seems like a small thing, but it works nicely for me. Sound quality - these headphones sound great. It's got a really nice full sound to it. I also have the V-Moda XS on ear headphones. Those sound very nice as well, but I can't describe it as being full. I guess having the larger drivers in the MDR10RBT's and being over ear headphones makes a big difference. The other thing is that I listened to them when I first got them. They sounded ok and acceptable, but I always "burn-in" any new headphones I get. So I went on to youtube and looped some burn-in sounds (pink noise, white noise, etc) overnight for two nights and I feel like there's definitely a big difference. Some people say burning in is like a placebo effect, but whatever the case is, I'm much happier with how they sound now. Especially being bluetooth headphones, the sound is amazing. Also, I can't tell much difference between standard mode and APTX mode. Either mode sounds great to me. Bass is controlled and puncy (and not too much), mid's and highs are smooth and detailed. Very happy with these guys and not having a cord is so nice! Bluetooth range with my Macbook is pretty poor. Only about 20 feet before they start to cut in and out. With my HTC One M8, the range is MUCH better. I would say I've gone at least 40 feet with no interruption in the connection. I even left my phone on the first floor of my house and went to the 2nd floor and still had a good connection. Definitely satisfied with the bluetooth range. Definitely a great buy if you're looking for a bluetooth headset. I was looking at the Bose Soundlink On Ear and Sol Republic Track Air, but they were both on ear and my V-Moda XS on ear headphones irritate my ears after an hour or so of use. Being that the MDR10RBT's are over the ear, they are EXTREMELY comfortable. They aren't too large either. Bigger than on ears of course but again these are so comfortable. Worth it to be a little bigger. Oh and the carrying bag it comes with is ok. There's no magnet or velcro to keep it shut but it works. There's a little pocket in the flap that I can put the charging cable and cable. What's great is that because the headphones swivel, it keeps it nice and compact (depth wise) so that I can slip it in my work bag and it doesn't take up a lot of space. The entire footprint is not small but I prefer the compactness depth wise. I actually bought a separate Sony case from eBay that comes with the MDR10RNC headphones and that case is very nice. Zippers up and has a soft pouch to keep the cables in.

Too much bass. Wireless part works very well.
I have modulated my initial bad review somewhat and increasing the rating to 3 stars. There's a much better Sony Bluetooth headset out there (solid 4 stars): MDR1RBT. There's even a better alternative than that, if you don't mind going two-piece (see my review of the MDR1RBT, or at the bottom of this review). I've been breaking these in some. Part of my initial bad impression (**-) was because they weren't broken in enough. Another part of the bad impression had nothing to do with the headsets: my Bluetooth card stunk. Lastly the pads were too tight, which accentuated the already excessive bassiness. So here's where things stand: still too much bass, especially for heavy romantic period stuff (Bruckner, et al.), especially recorded in a 'live' hall. Here's an example: I'm listening to a recorded performance of the Brahms Requiem (Leipzig symphony and chorus) via internet radio (via Bluetooth to the headsets); the balance is not bad most of the time, but the pedal tone held by the bassi and tympani completely overwhelmed the fugue (about 1/2 way through the piece (I've performed the thing with two different groups, but still can't remember the movement names)). The pedal tone should almost be subliminal; certainly heard, but not overpowering (at least until the end where everything gets very loud). They're acceptable for light baroque and classical. They're irritating for baseball games. They sound best when covering the ears VERY LIGHTLY. That seems to smooth out the sound generally. Mids and highs are genuinely good: very smooth and no obvious resonance points. Now for what's left of my original (actually already modified once) review: They're certainly comfortable enough and the wireless connection works well. FYI: THESE ARE NOT A MORE CURRENT VERSION OF THE MDR1RBT. Those are actually very good, but not perfect, although they're probably the best Bluetooth cans out there. If you want first class Sony cans for a good price (but without wireless) the MDR7506 are excellent, and with the AudioTechnica AT-PH05BT Bluetooth-receiver/headphone-amp, you can have the best of both worlds. If you need the wireless stuff and have the cash (and don't much care for deciphering Japanese instructions), the MDR-1RBT are almost good enough. These really aren't.

Great Wireless and Wired Sound Quality With Comfort
Sony makes good headphones as we use wired ones in our church contemporary service for accurate sound monitoring. So, what do these Bluetooth Sony phones bring to the table? First, accurate and pleasing fidelity in both wired and wireless modes. The spectrum of highs to lows are simply well balanced while being fairly revealing (i.e. accurate). The bass is really solid without any bloat or mid-range thickening. Some may prefer a rising bass, but unless that is implemented only at the lowest octave I'd say it isn't very welcome simply because it deviates from accuracy. This is very close to the perfect bass as it seems natural and can even be authoritative if the music is mixed as such. Across a wide variety of different music types, as well as piano and dialogue, there is a clarity of sound I find extremely pleasing. As for the Bluetooth wireless reception/fidelity they shine. Sony has engineered good range meeting the 30-foot distance staying connected as long as whatever transmitting device you mate them too is up to this. So far I've never ran out of juice even after over 12-hours (the approximate time tested). These are more comfortable and seal out more ambient noise than my previous Velodyne VFree phones (to be fair purchased on sale and at a far lower price which is fine as they're not bad just all-around lesser phones). The build quality is very good yet not the last word (i.e. more metal) as materials used are high-quality composites which provide the light-weight comfort with strength I believe Sony has aimed for. A Bose model I looked at recently while at Costco were less robustly constructed, noticeably less robustly built, and since they were on-ear types sealed out much less ambient sound (by design of course). Overall, for the price I feel these are still as of late 2014 the wireless phone standard to beat, highly recommended.

Very pleased with Bluetooth performance
I've had some experience using a bluetooth speaker set up with my computer before, but my main gripe has always been the small latency where the sound gets delayed by a split of a second (or more..). This is not a problem for listening to music, but it's not ideal for watching movies or gaming on the computer. I figured it would be the same story with these bluetooth headphones, but I'm happy to find that using these headphones is nothing like what I've experienced with my previous bluetooth speakers. The latency is hardly noticeable and I'm having a great time watching movies and playing some games on my computer using these headphones in bluetooth mode. These headphones are also fairly light weight and comfortable. I prefer smaller ear cups (like the Sennheiser HD-25.. which I also own), but the MDR-10RBT is not giving me any major trouble. I wear glasses and do occasionally have some fatigue and pain around the ear after using the headphones for HOURS, but I find that the longer I've had these headphones, the less I experience these things. I guess my body is getting used to it. I'm okay with that. The controls on these headphones are easy to use and very snappy. When you skip a track, the track skips immediately. There is hardly any delay. Lastly, the sound quality. I'm not an audiophile by any means but I've had enough experience with audio devices to at least know when something sounds crappy.. and these headphones definitely do not sound bad. BUT, the sound quality while making calls on the phone is pretty bad.. Not useless, but still bad. For me, this was not one of my intended uses so I can let it slide. So if you've already done your research and are on the fence about buying these headphones, I'd say it's hard to go wrong with it (unless you intend to use them for making phone calls). The bluetooth performance, ergonomics and sound quality is all there, and I would also add that it's quite nice to be able to eliminate another piece of wire from your desk or when you're on the go. Definitely recommended.

Very very good pair of headphones. Amazing sound quality.
Amazingly comfortable; I can wear it for hours at a time. Battery life is also impressive. Granted, I tend to use it with the cable a lot, but even still. The sound quality is also amazing. Ever so slightly bass-heavier compared to my Bose SoundTrue headphones but still an amazing option if you listen to a huge variety of genres like I do. Build quality is als very solid. Feels more solid than the Beats by Dr. Dre Solo 2.0. Also, the fact that you can listen to it via the included audio cable if the battery dies means you don't always need to worry about how much charge you have left. A few things to note about it however; 1. The track skip button/toggle is easily hit by accident and it doesn't take much to change the track. Definitely something that is initially annoying but you get used to very quickly and definitely not a deal breaker. 2. Plugging in the cable automatically turns off the headphones, which means you cannot use any of the controls (play/pause, skip track, volume) INCLUDING the built it mic. Plugging in = cannot use the built in mic. Not a deal breaker but definitely something to take note of. 3. The mic so far is just OK. Definitely get better sound quality plugging in my headphones and using my device's microphone instead. 4. Doesn't fold down to super compact, but it does become quite flat so still quite packable in my opinion. 5. The bluetooth connection occasionally skips for fractions of a second but always stabilizes quickly. It is definitely far more stable than what I've experienced in the past. The included pouch is also surprisingly practical as it has a small pouch to keep your cables. Quite well thought out I think. Overall, an amazing pair for all-around listening, and amazingly comfortable for hours of listening. Bluetooth is the icing on top of a very solid pair of headphones.

Awesome Sony Headphones
Whenever I would visit a Best Buy or The Source I would often go and compare headphones and their sound quality. And it seems that most headphones, Bluetooth or otherwise have a lack of balance, too much bass and or pale highs and others that are relatively expensive between the 100-200 dollar range and really sound bad. Then I came across the Sony MDR10BT on Amazon.ca and it was a refurbished set for a 120 dollars less than the normal retail price at the above mentioned retailers, quickly placed the order and got them a week later and I am still blown away not only by sound quality but by the balance of a deep bass and of the bright and detailed highs, which are nearly perfect and you can clearly distinguish from each other and the other feature is the 3 sound quality settings, which you use the power button in combination with the volume button to set it, which should be simplified, but then again I found this to be a set it and forget it deal. The instructions tell you how and Sony gives you a link for even more help with this as well. Charging only takes a couple of hours, you can't use the Bluetooth function while charging but you can still use them as regular headphones, the two little annoyances are that the micro usb charging cable is way to short, 20 inches in length and the length should have been the same length as the 4' audio cable, but I have a 4' Belkin charging cable that works fine, not a big deal and second is that the carrying pouch needs Velcro on the closure to keep the flap closed. These two things don't take away any stars, didn't buy them for pouch or the charging cable. 5 Stars for the awesome sound. If they're any left on Amazon.ca, you should pick up a set.

Good but the not the best keeping the cost in mind
I have been using it for 4 to 5 months now. And these are the observations made Pros Very comfortable Good battery backup Good connectivity to devices(doesnt drop) Has a range of about 10 to 15 feet with no obstructions in between Music quality is superb Cons: 1. Bass lovers wouldnt like it a bit, so they better stay away from this 2. No active noise cancellation(So you can hear noise from outside. I would prefer this actually as I would like to respond if someone calls for me or my doorbell rings) 3. The cover they give for this phone is too cheap compared to cost paid for the headset. They give a cheap pouch which cant protect the headphone much from damages. The quality of music is the same whether its used wired or bluetooth. The NFC works like magic(perfect)
