DO NOT BUY THIS MESS!!
I read the first episode of "PIRATA" on Kindle; it was quite good. I decided to buy the second episode (for Kindle). However, what arrived was a truncated, word-for-word repeat of most of Episode One!! Obviously, someone is asleep at the wheel in Amazon. Thinking I had made a mistake, I downloaded a Sample of the third episode. This contained only the flyleaf, recommendations, and a list of chapters; no story dialogue at all!! Get the finger out, Amazon; you make enough money out of us to do your job properly. I would give it Zero Stars but I cannot switch off the one star...... Mike, Dublin Ireland

Can't wait to read installment 3!
Great little story, action packed in Scarrow form. Definitely take a chance on these if you are thinking about it. Won't disappoint.

Another great story but...
I have really enjoyed the Cato and Macro series by Simon Scarrow and was hoping for more of the same and I was not disappointed in the story. Great story, great characters, great writing however, after reading the first part I was disappointed in the very short part and I am hesitant to continue on with the 'buy as you go model'. I'm not a fan of stopping and buying another part of this or any other story. I would be happy to buy the entire book at once and not fool around. Thanks Simon great story but bad marketing model...I think I'll move on to something else.

Pirates don't have an easy life!!
This is more a series of novellas than a book. The story broken up this way makes it convenient to fill short periods of reading time like waiting for your car to be serviced or doctors waiting room. The story is one adventure after another on a journey to rescue someone. The adventures are violent (they are pirates) but the story is entertaining. Now to buy the next book.

Scarrow sold out his fans- very poor value and story telling
Poor value and not to the usual standard of story telling. Hate the method of selling in 4 party over several months. Each book - or should it be called a chapter as it is very short - has been a disappointment.

is simon scarrow short of funds
this novelette and its prior is to my mind an insult to all who have read his stories. to be about brief and succinct is fine in some aspects. but I hardly got into the tale and it ended, come on...….

Looking forward to part 3
The story line is another perspective on the Roman Empire. It is a 'page turner' If anything I think each part of the book (s) is too short. I like a thicker volume I would have preferred the 'whole' story in one, not spread out over many parts.

Good read better if it was a hole book
It felt like it was one large book broken down into smaller parts to get more money

Total Rip-Off,very disappointed.
First of all i would like to say how much i have always enjoyed Simon Scarrows books, especially the Macro and Cato books. But this 2nd one in the Pirata series is a complete near enough word for word copy of the original Pirata book i had purchased in paperback which was deemed the 1st one in the Pirata series.I am only glad that i did not bulk buy the entire series for my Kindle which i was very tempted to do,the original Pirata book is very good and thoroughly enjoyable and i wrongly expected the 2nd one in the series The Gates of Stone to be a continuation of that storyline, sadly it's not.I am not going to even consider buying the further books in the series as this has left quite a sour taste in my mouth.
