It's burgertime for a sequel
Burgertime Party is the latest entry in the classic Burgertime series. With 4 modes of gameplay (essentially Solo, Co-Op, VS and Challenge; albeit by slightly different names in game) there are plenty of ways to dish out fun! While the gameplay style is relatively simplistic by today's standards (it is based off a game from the 80's) this is still an excellent choice to enjoy eating up some multiplayer action, if you can get past a few hiccups. The Single player campaign posits itself as a tutorial at first, followed by an increasingly difficult campaign with an emphasis on puzzle solving.Unfortunately all other modes (including the two multiplayer modes) are locked behind the tutorial in the solo, so the party feature for which this game is named must be unlocked. Doing so is easy enough, however it still would have been nice to just get the party going upon initial boot up.The two multiplayer modes are fun, however things can get a bit visually hectic due to screen size (especially if you happen to play this portably). However it is still fairly fun nonetheless. The back and forth between friends on a couch as you navigate the level is in many ways priceless. Finally there is Challenge Mode, which is based upon the gameplay rules of older titles in the series and is a nice dessert of sorts for all returning players (and those who could stand for a bit of added difficulty). This is the Burgertime of yesteryear. At the end of the day BurgerTime Party is yet another great multiplayer game for the Nintendo Switch despite some odd design choices and technical limitations involving screen size. Regularly listed at $20 this is a worthy addition to any Switch Afficionado's collection and well worth the price of entry whether you are a retro styled gamer looking for a modern revamp of a timeless classic, or just the kind of person who loves a bit of fun and chaos scooped together when the friends are over for a game. All in all I'd recommend it for $20 and am looking forward to what the developers have cooking up next!

Definitely not what I hoped it would be
As a HUGE fan of the original game from the arcade, when I decided to finally buy a Switch THIS game was an absolute must for me. It is not nearly as nostalgic as I had hoped and not nearly as fun either. In order to unlock later items you have to go through kind of bland tutorial stages that have the SAME music over and over and the same ending sound effects. It gets on your nerves and is tedious to have to go through these tutorial type stages. The main game involves a total of 50 levels that unlock 5 at a time and in order to move to the next grouping of 5 you need to get at least 1 star on each of the levels. Some of them are pretty tough and can be very tedious and annoying. You may actually do really well on the level, but you need to watch the star chart at the side and get a specific number of points to get the stars. This involves being forced to do combos and dropping food on the enemies to boost the score enough to get the correct number of stars. You can't just play like you would in the original game from the arcade.Overall this is still a somewhat fun game, but can be very tedious at times. I would have preferred this to be one of those $10 or less downloadable games versus paying full price for it.

Lots of Levels, Fun Single or Multiplayer Game - Love the Cupheadesque Graphics
As kids from the 80’s, Burgertime was one of those games that my siblings and I used to whittle the afternoons away with. Originally a one player game, this game has been updated with a new multiplayer feature so that up to four people can play at once. As long a single player survives to the next round, the game continues so that all the players can play. Lives are earned on the level and by winning levels. The gameplay is essentially the same as the OG Burgertime And there are plenty of levels to go through. The music is catchy, the graphics are Cupheadesque in a good way, and the game can be played in either short bouts or in marathon matches. There is even a mode where you can divide your players up and play the bad guys - just a tip, being a baddie is way easier than being a good guy - one touch and Peter Pepper is down! Overall, this is a fun reboot of a classic game that will appeal to kids and adults alike.

A fun modern take on the arcade classic
The cartoon art style has a lot of character and is a good reinterpretation of the original graphics. The gameplay is solid in both single and multi-player. Though not being able to walk through a cooperative partner can lead to some unfortunate deaths. I still highly recommend this to anyone who loves the original Data East classic.

Great Game! Lots if history and nostalgia.
Great game! I never played the original but this game is addicting and fun to play with it's various elements and powerups. I also like the catchy music. Plus what's not funny about a chef getting chased by angry ingredients he has thrown away lol. Also, I don't know if anyone reading this has watched Captain N but in the second season episode titled Game Boy they chase Game boy into the Burger Time videogame so it has quite a history and reference! Very fun past time if you want a break from the more intense competitive games.

Was delivered quickly. Shame it didn't say it was USA
Cannot claim Nintendo points for this as it is USA item not UK. If I knew it was USA then I would have tried to find a UK version. Other than that it is good fun.

Classic!
I was just in it for the memories. I liked playing the classic mode on it. The new challenges added a new life to an old game. It's still fun. Good for breaks. You can always come back and continue. Take on your road trips. Or playing before you go to sleep.

For those you played on Atari 2600. You will enjoy this new game with nice graphics and a retro version of the first game.
