Don't Underestimate a Mother Bird
These things are great. Lined our beam and posts that is holding up our second story deck. We did not know the bird was is the later stages incubation. A day after we put up the spikes we heard baby birds. I told my husband we have to remove the spikes and let the mother bird back in and put the spikes in after they are gone. But I have to share that a determined mother will find a way. Before we were able to remove them she was so determined that she was able to get in. My husband used one screw in this small section and she was able to turn it. Good thing. I was feeling really bad. After all baby birds left we fixed the area. There was another spot where another bird was building a nest. It never came back even though it tried for a couple days.

Buy this, not the plastic one, also read my post for shiny strands
We purchased the plastic ones, stay away from plastic, although they are cheaper they allow the birds to have a sturdy platform. We like the metal spike setup much better. Also Walmart sells a hanging thing that goes in a doorway replacing the door, silver strands like a bead doorway from the hippie times, but this is silver. Buy that at $6 and cut it into strands which will also keep the birds away, the farmers use something similar in the wine orchids that is silver & shiny, floats in the wind. Like tinsel. Its in the party section. They have discs that are shiny here on Amazon, more expensive though.

Simple pigeon solution
This is stainless steel wires set into a clear plastic base. I was expecting to have to use razor wire gloves but it was not the case. Used some simple glue to mount where we have the pigeon problem and their guano. It has worked at other building and the lack of goo on the ground has shown it is working here. The downside is that small birds will build small nests in between the wires. That to me is a lesser issue.

Very disappointed, it is not preventing Morning Doves from nesting
Have a surface in my portico where Mourning Doves have been a continuous problem. Installed these strips side by side so there was no flat surface for the birds to land. The Morning Doves just flew into the wires, nestled in and have started to build a nest in-between the wires. I was shocked this morning when I looked up and saw two mourning doves sitting on top of the spikes. This has NOT worked. Not happy with the product, especially considering they picture a Mourning Dove fluttering over the wire - yes they do that and then eventually land in the spikes.

Spikes work
The bird spikes work well to keep birds away. I used Locktite 3X strength to glue them down and nailed them down to keep them straight until the glue set up. The issue I had was in nailing them down, since a perfect straight swing of the hammer is needed or you will hit the bird spikes and bend them.

Working so far for critters
So far these are working very well to keep the critters off my back fence. I have a spa that is right next to the fence and when a huge possum went running by about 2 feet from my head I knew I had to do something. If you look at the photo you can see how tall they are. I completed the whole fence, this was taken when I was about half way across. I did put two of the strips together on top of the fence.

Goodbye flying rats.
Used under our eves where dormers meet roof. Used regular silicone caulking to hold them down to roofing tile. We also used it on window ledge. So far the flying rats are out of a place to nest. Very happy with this product.
