LIFX is an multi-colored, LED light bulb you control with your iPhone, iPad or Android smartphone. Links with NEST, works with IFTTT, and the app (android) is quick and works from anywhere on the internet once you set it up with the cloud. The colors,brightness, and effects are cool and work well. The app and bulb are responsive. The setup was dead simple, with the firmware update taking the longest (10 min). The away mode is nice, but the more bulbs you have the better it works. Cons: The bulb is the larger A21 (vs standard home A19) size so it does not fit everything. Also it gets hot to the touch (but LIFX reports this is to keep the bulb long lasting) but I have not had any issues with it running for long periods of time. Overall I like it

The app is a bit buggy sometimes and doesn't find the bulb so I need to disconnect and reconnect my phone to the wifi network. Proximity on/off is a must. Should have been in the app from day 1. And we really need IFTTT support guys. Phillips Hue's big advantage is that it's been around and has deeper integrations with lots of 3rd parties. The LIFX team told me that they are working on it... and I understand these things take time, but your competition isn't waiting. Still, I believe in the platform and think it has potential.

**Q: In the technical details you put that the lifx are 120volts but in the lifx website they say that are 100-240 volts. can you please confirm this ?**
A: Yes Leandro. I currently use 2 bulbs with 220V in Argentina and works just fine

**Q: What's a good lamp this bulb will fit in? Link on Amazon if possible.**
A: You'll need something pretty open and with good ventilation.  I use a couple of http://www.amazon.com/Hampton-Bay-Uplight-Floor-White/dp/B001BTI0TW/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1398479632 in my office - the white part of the image completely sticks out from the housing, so if you want to direct the light, that's not a good choice.

**Q: Is this compatible with Dimmers? Because i have a dimmer for my current LED lights so I was wondering if this might conflict or not**
A: The app that controls the lifx bulb will dim the light but a wall switch dimmer is compatible.  Personally I'd go with the Phillips Hue starter kit I have both and find Phillips to really function as you would like around the house.  With Phillips and the IFTTT app the possibilities are endless. The lifx bulb is still not there yet even with the release of their updated app.  Phillips I find is a better option.

The hardware on this bulb is nice the color output is good but the functionality is horrible. There is not much you can do outside of changing the color while on your own network. None of the promised features have been delivered and as much as they state that they are coming the never do. After owning one of these bulbs I went and got the Philips Hue and have been pretty happy. I have since put this bulb in a drawer and have not used it. Wasted 100.00 and should have bought the Hue in the first place.
