So sorry to admit that these pads have also changed and not for the better. NOW they DO leak. We’ve been using the XL pads for our small rat terrier as a back up for rainy days or when unable to get her outside. We place them in our extra-large shower, the reason for using size XL. The pads USED TO BE the best we used; however NOW they are lighter and less absorbent than stated in the ad. (I compared the current ones with a box I found in storage… not as thick, a bit smaller, and have black spots in the white padding..) Another problem is that they used to eliminate odor better. I too am looking for a better and affordable product, that unfortunately may no longer be available (inflation / greed). But, they are still doing the job except the for the leaking, especially near the edges.
