For this reason, you should not buy a drill that is less than the 9/16" diameter. If you think you will be pulling "12/2 w/ ground" romex cable, then jump to the 3/4" diameter cutter.This is a great tool and very quickly travels through wood! I used it for my needs, and lent it to a friend that then did recessed lighting in his home - all good! **Q: Can you change bit on it?** A: No. This is a fixed bit on a long shaft. One size only. **Q: Whats best way of attaching electrical wire to drill bit tip before pulling the whole setup out of the wall?** A: If its romex , I loop the ground wire through the hole, wrap it around itself several times, then tape the looped end. After using a stud finder and ball magnet to locate the studs and drywall nails (added touch), I then removed the electrical outlet and drilled two 9/16 in holes on the side of the electrical outlet housing. These were my entry points for both the 54" 9/16 flex bit and my Rigid inspection camera to see what I was drilling into behind the wall. I was a little nervous applying force to get the bit to bend. Eventually, I gain more confidence and was able to apply pretty good flex and got it to drill upward into the fire block. I did run into an issue with the insulation. The bit got tied up a bit, when I was drilling - twisting insulation around it. No problem though. Just removed some of it at the top where my speaker cut-out is and replaced some insulation later. On the second speaker, I ended snapping the bit! Yes, as the disclaimer states, there is a breaking point. Well I know that is now:-) It was a lot of force and a very aggressive bend that caused it. I ordered another one today to complete the work. Luckily the bit broke with about two feet of it outside the outlet. It has a very small hole at the end of the shaft to add a wire through and then pull your wiring through after the hole(s) have been cut.
