Sacred Spaces: Contemporary Religious Architecture

Known and Unknown Spaces
Nice layout, beautiful photos and there are even plans / sections of the different churches .. a positive addition that many books fail to include. There are a few known buildings by Shigeru Ban, Peter Zumthor and John Pawson ... but most are obscure that one has never heard of. I guess that will be good for some readers and disappointing to others.

Bought this as a gift for an art book lover. He was enchanted. The book is attractive.

Stunning
Beautiful book, stunning photography and interesting text. We lose our sense of the sacred at our peril. Makes you wonder why we can't create similar spaces here in the UK.

Kitschy text, bad images. Interesting topic.
A bit disappointing. Some images are not so crisp, even for a coffee table style book. The drawings do not have scale bar or any other annotation, making them not much more than nice graphics, and not great as reference for student or professional. The text is a bit kitschy, as when the author says the building "packs a powerful spiritual punch". OK. Commendations for the overall topic, and attempt to categorize sacred buildings, although I feel some important buildings are missing, such as the McLaughlin Oxford Chapel or Tadao Andos church of the light.

Nice pictures, not the best projects choices for me.
As a Phaïdon book, printing is qualitative. Texts are complete, written in english. But the projects choosen are not all pertinents from my point of view.
