Still a Solid Little Workhorse — Just Know the Limits of the 2GB Version
The Raspberry Pi 4 (2GB) is one of those pieces of hardware that just flat-out delivers for what it is. For a small board, it’s surprisingly capable. You’ve got a quad-core 64-bit processor, USB 3.0, dual display support, built-in WiFi/Bluetooth—it’s a huge jump over the older Pi models. I’ve used this for a variety of projects, and it handles typical workloads like a champ—things like home automation, lightweight servers, media setups, and general tinkering. It’s stable, reliable, and just works once you get it set up. That said, let’s keep it honest—the 2GB RAM version is the limiting factor. It’s fine for most basic to moderate uses, but if you start stacking services or trying to treat it like a full desktop, you’ll hit the ceiling pretty quick. It’ll do it… just not gracefully. Where it shines is efficiency. Low power draw, small footprint, and enough performance to handle real tasks without needing a full PC. It’s one of those tools that earns its keep if you’re using it for the right job. Build quality is what you’d expect—simple board, no fluff. Just know you’ll need a proper power supply, cooling (especially under load), and storage to get the most out of it. Bottom line: still one of the best bang-for-your-buck single-board computers out there. Just don’t expect the 2GB version to behave like a modern desktop, and you’ll be happy with it

Love this thing!
Genuinely one of the most useful “microcontrollers” I have ever purchased. Great cooling, great connectivity, looks beautiful, and versatile power supplies. A very versatile machine, and even with the increased price, it is worth it. I will use this often, have used it often, and will buy variants in the future. Valuable for electronic hobbyists and engineers.

The best single-board computer on the market
I've owned many Raspberry Pi boards over the years, but the Raspberry Pi 4 is by far the most capable desktop-replacement board to-date. The wide software and documentation support within the community is phenomenal, making it extremely easy to get started with the device. Not to mention, the low price point makes it accessible to anyone who wants to experiment with computing. One of the most impressive features of the Raspberry Pi 4 is its easy-to-access GPIO pins, which allow for a variety of expansion options. This flexibility makes it a great device for hobbyists, students, and rapid-prototyping. The large ecosystem of expansion HATs offers endless expansion options. I primarily use my Raspberry Pi 4's as dedicated media center computers for Kodi, and they work flawlessly. The device runs smoothly and without any lag or stuttering, even when playing 1080p H265 videos. The small size of the device also makes it ideal for use as a portable media center, which is perfect for on-the-go entertainment. Overall, I highly recommend the Raspberry Pi 4 to anyone who is looking for a powerful and versatile computing device at an affordable price. Its wide range of capabilities, ease of use, and broad community support make it an excellent choice for anyone who wants to experiment with computing or build innovative projects

4 years of perfect reliability!
If you ever wondered whether such devices last, then 4 years should prove it! This Raspberry Pi 4 has been used as a desktop PC, has run retro game emulations extensively and now is in use running an Open Source synthesizer project. It continues to run flawlessly even after a very bumpy house move. Boot times are mere seconds into the Raspberry O/S, but it can also be used headless, as with the synth software. Switch on, wait 10 seconds and it's ready to use. Really, these sit somewhere between the most powerful Arduino type boards and a full desktop mini PC. Immensely capable hardware and software for the price, from the biggest company in the game. I would recommend fitting a heatsink (as shown) , so that all day use won't ever be a problem even in summer.

Just replace your older Pi's one at a time.
Major upgrade to the older Pi versions. This thing is way faster to boot and update. It's definitely able to keep up with a Celeron box running Linux Mint that cost several times as much. I'd agree with others it's still a little slow to be a mid-level office desktop but I'm suspecting the SD card bus is a big limiting factor. Only issues from older Pi's: - Power is USB C and requires higher amp supply. I had a spare 3amp lying around. - HDMI is a mini connector and I had issues connecting it to a single 4K TV. No issues with a 1080 or 720 displays. I tried both ports but not at once. I don't need dual screens on this. I think my display issue is the one noted as a hardware problem on the early Pi4 boards. - SD card is also mini. It keeps the card from protruding but I only had full size cards lying around. - Based on other reviews with heat warnings, I bought a case with a small fan that powers from the GPIO pins. I've left it set on the lower power/speed with no issues. It's still basically silent. I don't like the bare Pi lying on a desk. ESD still keeps some of us up at night.

Built an NFS server for IP cameras
I consider myself still a novice with Linux although I have Mint in a laptop that I sometime use. With the RPI OS based on Linux, I'm able to get started on a Pi Zero a year ago with a simple project. I now have several RPI 3B+ I use to monitor my IP cameras. I learned to work with RPI with simple Google searches. There are tons of instructions online for anyone that wants to dabble in Raspberry Pi. This is my first RPI 4 board, and I found that cloning a back up RPI OS from one of my RPI 3B+ in a USB flash drive would not work on RPI 4 right away. RPI 4 needs a fresh OS in a Micro SD card with an edited configuration file to boot in the USB drive before cloning the Micro SD in a flash drive. I got all the instructions to do this online, so even beginners should have no problem with RPI 4. I built an NFS server with this board to record the video and photo captures from my IP cameras. I got the server running with an external hard drive after a few hours of tinkering with the board. The setup has been running for a couple of days now with no problem so far. I noticed the board runs faster and the core temperature is lower than RPI 3B+. I highly recommend RPI 4 for those that want to try Raspberry Pi for the first time.

I have purchased multiple Raspberry Pi's over the years and always been pleased.
A previous review that I left was not intended for this product and has been rescinded. This item, like all Raspberry Pi devices I have is a solid product. It is functioning exactly as expected. I won't hesitate to purchase this again as further projects I'm working on continue to develop.

Good product
I received it on time, went for 2gb model as just going to use it for Home Assistant installation and as NAS. If you purchasing make sure to buy heating also. Gets hot when under load it gets up to 50+ C. under normal condition its around 40C. IF fan is installed it comes down to 32-3C..
