Who manufactures these bobbins?

Doublelin — embroidery machinery & component manufacturer since 1989. APW-60S2 is made at our own facility under in-house QC, not sourced from third-party suppliers. We also produce complete computerized embroidery machines.

My machine manual says #90 bobbin thread. Is this the right product?

Yes. #90 (Japanese Gunze count) is equivalent to 60S/2 yarn count or approximately 50WT in the US system. Sealed bobbin cases on newer machines are calibrated for this exact spec. Note: #90 is NOT 90WT — 90WT is a much finer thread.

How do I verify this is the right bobbin size for my machine?

3 ways: (1) Manual specifies #90 or ≈50WT bobbin thread → fits. (2) Manual specifies Class 15, Size A, SA156, Style A, or Size 11.5 → fits. (3) Measure your bobbin: 13/16″ dia × 28/64″ height = Size A → fits. Size A, L, M are NOT interchangeable.

Can I use APW-60S2 for quilting or general sewing? And what about bobbin color?

Not for quilting (60S/2 lacks tensile strength; marginal for general sewing). Use APW-40S2 (40S/2 / #60) for sewing & quilting. Color: for embroidery, bobbin color doesn't show — use white. For sewing & quilting, match top thread (see APM-40S2).

Is this plastic-sided or cardboard-sided? Can I use it on my machine?

APW-60S2 is plastic-sided. Size A is made only in plastic-sided form. Plastic-sided bobbins work in any Class 15 machine — top-loading, side-loading, home, or high-speed commercial. Direct replacement for metal, aluminum, or plastic Class 15 bobbins.
