Excellent little pump
I made a fountain and I didn't want to worry about ground lines, so I opted for the solar pump. It works great! I've noticed if it's a really sunny day, once the sun in no longer directly overhead, the pump seems to work for a lot longer than 2 hours, which is what the battery back up states it does. It works all day on partially sunny days, and I've seen it work intermittently on very overcast days. While it will work best in full sun, I would venture to say it would work well in partial sun too. I keep switching out the pump heads and I haven't chosen which one I like the best yet, but I am glad to have the choices! I love this pump and I am so happy that it allowed me to add such a wonderful addition of my garden.

However I am very pleased with it
You do get what you've paid for with this small pump. However I am very pleased with it. It delivers a 60cm high jet using the small nozzle in the pond. It will only work satisfactorily in bright sunlight. Where others have said it pulses, this may be due to poor sunlight. There will be no spray in cloudy conditions. The pump did stop working after 5 days. I connect it to a transformer which kick-started the pump, so it may have had some debris in it. For the price it's a good little product. I will buy another one for the other side of my pond.. One good thing is that it seems to reduce the blanket weed due to the aeration effect of the fountain. UPDATE - the pump hasn't failed since which may be due to the filter that I fitted. This cost £1 and is a plastic mesh pot scourer looped over the pump.

Nice little solar pond pump
This pump was used to power a “waterfall” for a small garden pond. It has performed well with a waterfall height of perhaps 18”, realizing that water flow is low and that the battery cannot hold sufficient change to pump for very long after sunlight has diminished. In my view, this product is easily worth its cost given reasonable expectations.

Installed on April 1st, Died on May 15th.
The pump/panel lasted less than 2 months, beyond the 1 month return window. The pump wasn't working and the panel output registered less than 8v in full Texas sun. Too bad as the panel is bigger and looks good compared to a smaller sized competitor's (which is still working after 2 years). I'd written a glowing review previously as it's output was good initially.

Fantastic Litte Solar Fountan Pump/Battery - when it works
Update 7/14/21: pump stopped working. We got 3 months use before it died.Dropping to 3 stars as it was good when it worked.Purchased this after we decided we wanted a little fountain. Solar with a small battery? Yes, thank you.Easy to setup. Simple to use.We ended up drilling out one of the spray heads to get a lower but thicker spray. Worked great. The run dry worked well in the beginning, but isn't working anymore. Otherwise, working great every day.The battery gives you run-time after sunset. Maybe an hour or so. But very nice to have it go past sundown.Overall, happy with this little solar pump.

Replaced a 110V fish pump in a ginger jar fountain with this combination
I was happy to find this unit to replace the dead (fish tank) pump in my wife's ginger jar fountain. I mounted the solar panel on top of a 6x6 post that supports a shade sail in our yard, so the panel gets good light all day long. Working very well for at least amonth now. The panel seems well enough made that I expect it to last for quite a while. Regardless, this has been a good value for the money. I will update this post if I run into a longevity problem. The suction is pretty good. Not as much as the previous pump, but maybe thats because I have not attempted to make a better seal on the pump to fountain hose interface. There may be some pump efficiency improvement I could get there if I worked on it longer. Just happy I didnt have to do anything special to get it to work well with provided parts.

MADE IN CHINA but has some nice features. UPDATED TO A LOWER RATING
UPDATE 2020. I bought this in July of 2019. I went to set up the pump in May of 2020 and I could not get it working again.Below is my original review not edited.Normally, when a product is made in China, I automatically return it without testing it. However, because I could not find any solar powered pump which was not made in China, I kept it.The battery backup which keeps it going for a while after the sun is off it works extremely well. In fact, one day which was alternating overcast and light rain, the battery would charge up and eventually the fountain would run for a while. So, it was on-off-on-off all day. Considering there was never any direct sun, the fact it ran at all was miraculous. The turning off when it is taken out of water is inconsistent. Sometimes it would occur after about 15 seconds, other times it did not appear to work.It does not go up as far as I expected, nor as high as my previous pump which died.If this was not made in China, I would give it 5 stars. However, because it is made in China, I nearly gave it 1 star and I nearly returned it.

Didn’t work the first time around
Edit- from 1 back to 5 starsReturned the defunct fountain and replaced with one that works. And it does really work. The sprayer was putting out lot more than I expected. It is doing what I was hoping it would do. Will see for how long.Would rate it zero stars since it doesn’t work. Had hoped it was because the last couple of days had been overcast but it’s bright and sunny today and the panel isn’t putting out power according to my husband’s multimeter.
