Within a month someone came at it from behind, knocked it down and tore the batteries out of it. While that camera actually still worked great after we put new batteries in it (Save for a piece of trim around the battery cover that was torn off but doesn't affect it's performance or weather tightness) I wanted to do better. I ordered two more cameras as well as a set of these mounts. The original camera as well as a new one were mounted on top of the garage while a third was mounted on a nearby fence using the included Blink mount and a silicone case.A few weeks later someone pulled up to our garage in the alley way. One garage mounted camera caught their well lit face as they pulled up and the fence mounted camera captured their license plate. They jumped out of the vehicle and yanked the fence camera off, throwing it aside. (That camera was using the included Blink mount) The two cameras on the garage they ripped down. (clearly this had been planned in advance) The piece that attaches the casing to the garage snapped in half when they did that. If they were thinking of removing the batteries it would've taken a while to undo the screws at the back while the camera recorded and continued to send video to Blink's serversThe fence camera on the included blink mount I was able to snap right back on after this happened. I reordered two more sets of these, which came the next day. We replaced the broken pieces so I could mount the cameras back up and put the rest in a spare parts box as I anticipate this'll happen again. There was no damage to the garage where they pulled the cameras down. These mounts are solid enough to last after being mounted but flimsy enough so when someone does something like this only the mounts were damaged.Video and close-up screen grabs were submitted to the police as part of the report. Within a week the Chicago police department caught up with the individual, our neighbors were able to recover most of what was stolen and we were only out the cost of the mounts for the incident. :) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ comparison of the two most popular mount/housing kits for Blink XT2 Cameras. *by V***C on December 19, 2019* I bought and try and compared the two most popular kits with mount brackets and housing offered for Blink X2 Cameras: the Blink XT2 Mount Kit https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S917J5C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and the Frienda Kit, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FDBRSCP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.They are similar products, but each with different highs and lows. I liked the Blink XT2 the best. The Frienda kit has better camera housing but the XT2 camera mount has a better mount bracket and a better overall appearance and finish . This are the details.XT2 camera mountHousing is and most of the bracket is mostly made of plastic. Design is good.Pros. Easy installation, mount bracket can be easily adjusted once installed. It includes an opening at the bottom so the sound of the speaker can be heard. It includes a very convenient mount for the sync module for the cameras, which otherwise you have to buy separately.Cons. The top elements protection of the housing is shorter than the Frienda kit, which is not ideal if you are mounting the cameras exposed to the elements. The base of the mount is plastic and it may break if not treated with care.Frienda Kit.Pros. Silicone housing has a longer top protection, which is good to protect against sun and rain. It includes a back opening to easily connect a usb power cable for those installing an external power source for the camera. The base of the mount is made of metal, so it could be stronger.Cons. The screw to secure the moving part of the mount bracket is very difficult to screw into place. if you can succeed in screwing it, it is near to impossible to move and adjust the camera to adjust direction. If you are not extremely careful at the time of inserting the screw into the ridiculously small space available, you could easily strip the soft metal of the bracket. If you want to hear the speaker of the Blink XT2 camera, you have to cut an opening at the bottom of the camera (it appears that this bracket was originally made for a previous Blink camera without speaker).Both products work. If the larger top protection is important for you, you may consider the Frienda, despite the less than ideal features.
