Review: I Am The Guardener A201 - Stand Back or I will Fire! - Having read all the reviews, I took a chance on this product since the deer are absolutely destroying our flower beds. We have dozens that roam the neighborhood. It set up very easy and looks to be well made. Nice rubber gaskets on the panels. I positioned it a choke point that leads from the woods to our yard between a couple of deer fences. The instructions said it might be overly sensitive in hot weather, but I turned up the sensitivity to Max since it was not registering until I got very close. I also swiveled the sensor up a bit higher since it was aimed very low. So far this baby is working great! We have only actually heard it go off a few times. My wife saw a little baby doe running back into the woods after setting it off. The spray distance is reasonable. The water supply seems quite adequate. Some of out plants are sending out new shoots so we will know for sure whether it is working. Most likely we will get a second unit to guard entrance from the street side of the house. It almost seems like the deer have gotten a taste of our Guardener Sentinel and are now shying away from the area in general. Overall I am very pleased with this product. UPDATE 4/18/16 - Just put the unit back in its spot as Spring is here in N.E. Ohio. Fired right up and already the deer are not shying away from the area in general. At times there are 8 or 10 deer laying in the woods by the house but they are staying clear of the area. That is why I am purchasing another one today to guard the front entrance to the corridor along the side of the house. Bow hunters were approved in the last election so hopefully the heard will get thinned a bit. With the current population there is no way for the wooded area to replenish itself. UPDATE 8/26/16: We finally got blooms on a number of plants! The Hostas got to grow up for once. We are seeing flowers on plants that have never had a chance to flower before the deer chewed them down. One note, put some petroleum jelly on the screw heads since they are not stainless and will rust. Very happy with this product. Our neighborhood is over-run with deer and the Guardener has worked great. UPDATE 6/8/18: Like most anything, these will require maintenance. You need to open it up and clean off the battery contacts and/or replace battery. They take a beating in the sun. Also, need to bleach them out since you can get some scunge growing in there. Be sure to give them some TLC each year as they will get water into the battery compartment after a few years. Review: Buyer beware - do not order this from desertcart - Excellent concept - installed and it worked for about 2 months - then it stopped working completely. I contacted the manufacturer - Guardeners.com - and they confirmed that something is wrong with the electronics. But, they said I needed to return to where I bought. Unfortunately, desertcart will not accept a return on this item after 60 days (even though the warranty is for a year). So $130 bucks down the drain. I'd advise to stay away from this product via desertcart. The unit has a small submersible pump that has a small screen on it that is susceptible to clogging if there is material in the solution or if it is too viscous. If the viscosity of your solution is low, I don't see why that wouldn't work. This past spring I embarked on a massive landscaping overhaul and noticed that the deer had decided to sample some of my 200 new plants. I live in Morris County NJ on 3 acres of property - we have a lot of deer. There are similar units, however they require a hose and I was keenly interested in the portability of this unit. I put this unit in a strategic location and could hear it go off in the middle of the night during the summer. It made me smile every time - my plantings surely grinned too. The jury is out, however, on the battery durability. Towards the fall it seems to have stopped working - but I am heavily wooded and this could be an artifact of very limited direct sun exposure to charge the solar cell.
