I bought two more just in case
I hate it when I find something really nice, and then don't buy another pair, thinking they will be there years later when I need another one. I was about to buy a pruner for many times this cost as I had had my fill of cheap pruners. I have twenty grape vines, and about forty fruit trees, along with long rows of raspberries. I bought one of these and was happy that it was made in America and sturdy. I looked forward to engaging in my addiction: pruning. It cuts much better than any of the ones I have had before. From tiny things to the large vines, it works great. I have used it for around 10 hours and it is still sharp. I have had to take a small wrench to it twice to tighten it just a touch, but I think is because I chop things that are supposed to be too big for it. I bought two more because I don't want to be unable to find another one if I accidentally leave this sitting in a bucket of garbage--not that I have ever mistakenly thrown away a a tool I liked, mind you. Anyway, I felt I ought give a good review, as these are worth more than what is charged.

Sturdy small pruning shears
I purchased these shears on the basis of the other reviews and have been very happy with them. I found that I needed to give them a little twist when cutting thicker branches because the handles are a bit short for applying leverage for cutting the upper range of size of branches that these shears are capable of cutting. I also have small hands, in common with a couple of other reviewers, but a little finesse compensates for the shorter handles of these sturdily built shears. There has been no sign of any distortion or reduction in cutting power of these shears using this technique. Highly recommended, if you need a compact set of shears.Fall 2012. Reducing this review to 3 stars. I used these shears a lot and was very happy with them, until I was cutting some thorn bushes and the larger blade broke in half. The diameter of the branch was within the size range recommended for use with these shears, but I guess it was just too hard/dense for these shears to handle. Not truly heavy duty, it appears.

quality.
the latch to keep the pruners closed in the pocket started coming loose, until i hammered the hook to curl & hold it a little more. now they're fine. they cut well, but on trees with tougher branches ( even of smaller diameters ), they can be tough to cut. for softer woods, normal pruning, & pruning long established weeds & whatnot, they work great.

Pruning shears
This had to be adjusted a bit out of the box. The bolt was a bit loose, but worked well after tightening. Seems to be fairly well made and worked well after tightening. I do believe it is a fair value for my use, but would not get it if I used it every day. I do like the design for reaching into my peach and apple trees during the summer to nip a few stray limbs.

Not as good as I expected
These shears had received strong reviews and seemed to be an excellent value, so I bought them.I have been a bit disappointed with them. They aren't as efficient in cutting as I expected. Also, they are prone to surface rust. I guess I thought they would have some type of finish or coating that would resist moisture.Overall, I guess they are OK for the money but I was anticipating more.

Excellent Product - Made to Last
Well made, easy to use and work just as ordered. These were much less expensive than other brands of the same type and style and appear to be able to last. I easily pruned our lilac bushes and all else that is growing in our yard quickly and easily. I have a friend who has a pair of these which he purchased many, many years ago and they are going strong. He simply sharpens them and goes another season. He is a professional landscape architect and has been using these for many years. Thanks for the good product and great price.

These are okay
These pruning shears are okay. The price was right so thought I'd give them a try. For some reason they don't want to cut easily, even the first time I used them so they weren't dull. Don't know if I'd buy them again but it's always good to have more than one pair of pruners (especially if you misplace things like I do!)

Poorly Designed
This item is poorly designed for heavy duty use. When cutting twigs greater than 3/8β diameter, the blade experiences great lateral torque. There are two pins that hold the blade in place and the torque causes the pins to come loose as they are merely pressed into the blade. The pins came out twice within one day of use. I first tried repressing the pins into the blade but they became loose again and I lost one while cutting. For small twigs, they cut great, especially soft, supple, green twigs that usually bend between the blades rather than cut. For large twigs, I noticed no improvement in leverage from the cheaper 5/8" Fiskars I was supplementing. There was no warranty card or instructions included with the product; the item was wrapped in bubble wrap with only an identification sticker. The manufacturer provides a lifetime warranty and claims to have developed a product that will last a lifetime. They need to go back to the drawing board. I returned mine for a refund.
